Three is indeed probably going to be the ideal, but I've ordered four for the inevitable first month of utter shenanigans. I can see three built lightly and a cheap ace like OL being solid, or just go all in on the three-ship Gunboat list with all the bells and whistles attached. Four will be - however briefly - a lot of fun.

No more, no less. And the opponent yields for not being able to cope with such GLORY.

Fast, relatively tough, focus and predator every round on a 3 die attack (that caps at 1 damage) with the bonus that it limits the enemy's maneuverability.

Have to wonder about some awesome looking formations you could use in Epic. I'm already planning on having at least one of my Gunboats on three pegs right behind the Leader with one and the other two flanking with two pegs apiece.

I bet if you were awesome enough you could even make a star formation for your Starwing.

You know what I am even more excited about than the GUNBOAT?

Seeing pictures and how-to videos for installing LED lighting on those engines for a gorgeous blue engine glow effect on the glorious gunboat.

I'm just gonna get two. Not three. Save that for the Silencer.

Normally I would play epic but work has been hectic and the person I play with doesn't own the epic ships.

I'm just calling for reinforcements, which is usually just 2 (at least initially).

I was thinking of using Assault configuration with Jamming Beam and Ion Cannons, but do the reinforcements ever use their ions? Mostly I remember meticulously ioning a target to get bonus points for its capture, only for the reinforcements to come along and say, "Ooh! Easy, non-moving target!" and then destroy it.
