(I can't say I'm a big fan of either)

To be honest neither am I.

I really cannot ask for anything else. The gunboat, for me, is an absolute triumph and hopefully will show up as canon in Han Solo: A Star Wars Story. The Star Wing will probably be the only Non TIE looking fighter to be released for Imperial as it has some very distinct Imperial styles thanks to the artistic influence from the Lambda-class. The Star Wing looks properly aggressive, like it badly wants to smash your face in with its missile salvos, it is the 'Krav Maga' of Imperial fighters, deliberately firing a missile into your groin.

Other vessels, from an artistic standpoint, would be more recognizable as a Scum or Rebel craft rather then an Imperial one. The TIE Striker has very much become the role of the Howlrunner. The A-9 Vigilance looks more distinctly Rebel and the Skipray looks distinctly Scum.

Perhaps we can have the TIE Vanguard along with some electronics warfare trickery, or... since Thrawn is canon, the Chiss Nssis Clawcraft with some Chiss trickery tactics.

I hope to see the TIE Mauler in Star Wars Legion.

This.

Not this.

(about the TIE Vanguard, it's one of those rare ships I would prefer a completely made-up ship by FFG in its place)

I find the Chiss Clawcraft very sexy, but I honestly would like it more if it wasn't such a TIE knockout. I wish we knew the other Chiss ships. Anyway, would it be Imperial or Scum?

TIE Mauler is one of those inventions from the old games I always hated. It's the epitome of the "TIE everywhere" philosophy.

Well, old books had an alliance between the Imperial Remnant and the Chiss, so unless (or until) we get more stuff with them, I'll bet FFG will stick with that.

GUNBOAT!!!! Kicking your junk! This is one of the most beautiful descriptions of the XG-1 I've ever seen.

The TIE Scout would be awesome, with double system slots and crazy tricks that differentiate it from Bomber and Lambda shuttles, maybe jamming or slicing tools.latest?cb=20070504012632710x528_2750968_944890_1459312228.jpg

I'd like a tie scout statline with the tie torpedo bomber appearance.

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/swfanon/images/6/60/Tietl.jpg

Something remenicent of the AWACS for an EW tie.

Omg, I think I threw up in my mouth a little. Is it a transformer that hasn't changed all the way yet?

So does it shoot torpedo bombs? Or bomb with Torpedoes? Why does it have skis? Is it a TIE Parasail?

Okay, these things are NOT better than the Oppressor.

Yea, as a torpedo bomber it's just awful. But ignore that for a moment.

As a EW tie, it has a powerful antenna and a narrow profile, and very little weapons.

I have a soft spot for the TIE Scout and TIE Vanguard as artifacts of the Decipher game that, like the Gunboat, never got much attention outside of the one entry they came in on. At least the Galaxies craft got some say in the RPGs, and the TIE scout got an appearance in Empire at War, but the Vanguard?

Both designs are kind of understated and don't go crazy on excessive, unnecessary parts. The TIE Scout is just bulk with an upper deck and larger wings, but it doesn't mount crazy multiples of them of them, and most of the form is contained in the single hull. It's what a TIE Bomber would be if it wasn't a split hull design. The front glass and the wings are enough, it doesn't need any weird add ons or fancy cut wings. It's simple.

The TIE Vanguard is a nice understated variant that doesn't go overboard either. Bend the wings, give it antenna, downgrade the armament. It's enough of a modification from the stock TIE to be a recognizable variant, but not so unchanged that it looks like a grade schooler took scissors to the wings after gluing on a spare out-of-scale Battleship turret from the bits box.

The TIE Avenger and TIE Defender are also understated modifications. Compared to the Galaxies craft they don't have excessive out-of-the-way features to take away from the center ball-and-wings idea. Their additions are balanced laterally and trilaterally.

Of the scout and Vanguard, I only see the scout having a realistic chance of coming to the game. It would be an Imperial crew carrier if they wanted to build a ship to that specific purpose (instead of modifying the TIE Bomber), and wanted it to be on a small base. Low armament, but the point would be some kind of special area effect slot that gets a passive buff for being near/around the Scout. IF the Vanguard was in, it would be the same as the scout minus the crew slot and a lot more vulnerable (no shields, basically a TIE with an attack rating of 1). *shrug*

I like the Scout because it is a great way to introduce cool system upgrades and mechanics, while giving the empire a cheap support craft.

Maybe it will be like the Phantom 2 for rebels. I don't think it is outside the realm of possibilities!

Does it need to look like a pet box with TIE panels?

That's why I say the Tie Scout should have the parasail look stolen from the torpedo tie.

The design of the Howlrunner is mostly an unused design for the Snowspeeder.

Oh, it would actually look cool as the "Imperial Snow Speeder".

(Since Rebels and the Sequel Trilogy are drinking in McQuarrie's well, it is possible that this will show up someday)

Jeez, these are some of the ugliest TIEs I ever saw. How dare you guys taint the Holy Thread with these abominations? What are you bringing now? the obscene TIE Experimental M1?

While I really want an "electronics warfare" Imperial ship, these TIE abortions are horrible. FFG could bring, instead, some new actions to the unreleased (and inevitable) shuttles: TIE Reaper and Delta Shuttle (Krennic's shuttle could have even a ST 149 title that gives it even more support features).

With the Gunboat introducing the Reload action, I'm wondering if maybe now there could be space for support ships like the reloading tugs in the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series. Maybe a cheap craft with only 1 primary weapon and few (if any) available upgrades, but with an ability like, "Friendly ships add the Reload action to their action bar while they are within range 1 of this ship."

It would be for very specific loadouts, sure, but it could be pretty fun to play.

I want the Tug and the Combat Utility Vehicle!
Tug and CUV non-Aces combined pack!

Nondescript Tug Pilot
PS 0
0/1/1/0
Unique
When you are destroyed, discard all damage cards, then redeploy whiting range 1 of your edge.
Cost: 5 points

Nondescript CUV Pilot
PS 0
0/2/2/2
Unique
When you are destroyed, discard all damage cards, recover your shields, then redeploy whitin range 1 of your edge.
Cost: 9

Field Repair Vehicle
Tug and CUV only. Title.
After performing a maneuver that makes you overlap a friendly ship, that ship may discard any damage card.
When overlapping another ship or obstacle, do not skip your Perform Action step, and do not suffer the effects of overlapping obstacles.

Field Rearm Vehicle
Tug and CUV only. Title
After performing a maneuver that makes you overlap a friendly ship, that ship may perform a reload.
When overlapping another ship or obstacle, do not skip your Perform Action step, and do not suffer the effects of overlapping obstacles.

Heavy Load Tugging
Tug only. Title
After performing a maneuver, if you overlapped an obstacle, you may move the obstacle to any position as long as it's touching your base.
When overlapping another ship or obstacle, do not skip your Perform Action step, and do not suffer the effects of overlapping obstacles.

Completely disagree on the Scout. It's the embodiement of excessive, unnecessary parts as far as I'm concerned.

The Vanguard is TOO understated in a game that already has 4 variations on the standard TIE Fighter. A couple antennae and bending the wings 5 degrees just doesn't cut it. The Vanguard is a Title at best.

But if it's just a title, then how do we get a miniature of it?

That would be...

Amazing. It would bring back Redline for sure.

Add one vote for putting this on a TIE Reaper!

That's the point. Who would want a miniature for it? It's horrible.

Horrible or not, it's visually distinctive enough that if there were a card for it I would want a miniature for it as well.

Sometimes it's not about the utility in combat, but about the collecting as well!

Lol.

Redline already struggles to fire himself dry just with 2 Plasma Torpedoes. Spending a whole ship's worth of points giving him a way to reload is going to do NOTHING to bring him back. Not that he was ever present in the first place.

I prefer to collect ships I don't find atrociously looking.

If the TIE Oppressor gets an "electronic package", if could fill this role. And at least it would look better.

Or we can just wait for the new TIEs in Han Solo's movie.

That's true. I don't think Reload really helps the TIE Egg Carton...
