If Rebels doesn't end suddenly with the Ghost accelerating straight into the prow of the Devastator as it drops out of hyperspace at Scarif I'm going to be very disappointed.

but unfortunately this is but the first opportunity to release ol GB that was passed up. Imagine how much more awesome this wave would have been with GUNBOAT and Defender side by side. But ok we will let it slide, for now.

next two waves no new small base Imps.

Wave seven saw a HUGE slap in the face of all true fans: the Puniaher. The couldn't even call the thing Interdictor... The K-wing, the ugliest Rebel ship until the Wooden Wookiee Warship, released with SLAM without either GUNBOAT or Missile boat to oppose it. Instead we got a placeholder from a forgotten game, a Bomber on steroids. Now I love the Bomber, and MOAR Bomber is cool, but GUNBOAT...GUNBOAT or its cousin... should have had this spot. The eventual release even has SLAM! Just an insult to us all.

now I could end this right now, but let's count the rest of the releases.

/fo. Yeah, new movie, so it was 'needed'. Same with Striker and /SF. They get a pass, but they still took up spaces that could have given us GLORY.

There was also the TAP. It was on Rebels. I guess... it also came in Imperial GUNBOAT gray.

Last came the Aggressor. From SWG. Advanced with a turret. By this time we were all numb and fumingbat FFG, but this wasn't the ultimate insult that was Rebel TIE. FAQING REBEL TIE!!!!!

anyway there you have it. Basically a half dozen chances FFG had to give us the most requested ship for years. And I'm still buying a ton of GUNBOATS. But FFG, this has been one cruel, senseless ride you made us take. Shame, shame on you.

Us flight simulator fans have to watch, again and again, ships from galaxies being offered up for plastic embodiment. Even Scum could have drawn up the T-Wing or R-41 to break up the monotony of Galaxies MandalMotors contributions when they don't have a bounty hunter ship to put in the game. The Kimogila could have easily been the R-41.

This thread is as large as it is because there's a large number of simulator fans who have wanted to see more than just the TIE/D in the game to represent it. The Assault Gunboat is the most distinct of the two ships from that game that are in high demand.

That is the best that the howlrunner has ever looked, but it still looks like Scum. The A-9 vigilance seemed more 'imperial' to me

Officially "Q4 2017". Which probably means next year considering they're not "On the boat" yet. My guess would be February, though they may push hard to make Christmas.

I'm not against this ship at all but I'm now imagining an old school TIE swarm fan wishing "I want to see more Howlrunners in the X-Wing meta" as a finger on the monkey's paw curls up

The design of the Howlrunner is mostly an unused design for the Snowspeeder.

With the Gunboat introducing the Reload action, I'm wondering if maybe now there could be space for support ships like the reloading tugs in the X-Wing and TIE Fighter series. Maybe a cheap craft with only 1 primary weapon and few (if any) available upgrades, but with an ability like, "Friendly ships add the Reload action to their action bar while they are within range 1 of this ship."

It would be for very specific loadouts, sure, but it could be pretty fun to play.
