Thinking of it, the missile boat can come with a few cards like this. infy proton rockets, ACMs, CMs, and proton torpedoes/advanced torpedoes.
XG-1 "Star Wing" Assault Gunboat Thread
We interrupt this wonderful Missile Boat discussion to bring you this image.
Now back to the discussion!
Well needed. We should make a Separate Missile Boat Thread...
OK, first try (the wording is hideous, please help):
EDIT: there aren't Advanced Concussion Missiles in the game yet, right? I might need to do them.
"When you equip a [missile] Upgrade card, treat its squad point cost as 0. You may not discard [missile] Upgrade cards."
I'd price it at 7 points and give the ship a single missile slot.
OK, new try. First, we need this:

And then:

Sounds good to me Vorpal. Potential damage output (with Concussion Missiles) would be slightly higher than a HLC (can do Critical damage), same range, but has requirements (Target Lock) to fire. 7 points seems about right.
Edited by FTS GeckoTHE X-WING WAS ORIGINALLY AN IMPERIAL SHIP, LIKE THE Z-95 AND THE Y-WING. - Legends Canon, TCW canon for the Z and Y.
UNLIKE THE Z-95 AND Y-WING IT WAS DESIGNED IN THE IMPERIAL ERA UNDER THE IMPERIAL GOVT. (Not Republic). - Legends Canon
I'll grant that if you ONLY use movie canon things are more clear cut, but then you can't use HWKs, TIE Defenders, Phantoms, the entire Scum line... - Logic. Legends vs Actual Canon.
Look at the Gozanti cruisers, you got Imperial gozantis which re regular republic Gozanti's painted gray and retrofitted with different fins and TIE docking ports. -Actual , true, disney canon.
ARC-170s painted gray (along with V-wings) did appear in the comics set immediately after Order 66 with fried rice. That makes them Legends Canon (along with the KOTOR comic series and games, Admiral Thrawn, TIE Fighter, X-wing, SOTE, Dark Forces etc). - Legends Canon
All of that is true but...what's your point exactly?
That every ship that was ever Imperial or Republic should be usable by the Imperials? You do understand how sh*tty that would make the game right? And would basically mean that the Rebels would end up having no ships of their own?
Suddenly, a wild XG-1 appears...

(this time with the wing cannons)
Personally, I think that the the Missile Boat SHOULD have 4 Missile slots. And then come with this:

Allows the ship to still take two different kinds of missiles, but represents how it carries so many that you don't have to worry about running out. And makes it so it's not just some Missile Boat-only upgrade(though a ship would need at least 3 Missile slots to make use of it).
Edited by DarthEnderXI would be fine with the Missile Boat having infinite amount of missiles (because, seriously, an X-Wing Miniatures match translates into basically less than 1 minute of in-game time, and no way you will empty your launchers in that time), and the 1/2/3/4 stats proposed, as long as:
- Its price is clearly raised. 18 Points is a joke for a ship that has access to an infinite amount of some of the most expensive cards in the game.
- It's marked Epic and costs at least 2 epic points.
I guess I'm just hung up over it being a title. To me titles are for status (Royal Guard Tie) or Unique craft. I know recently they've been using them as fixes (Prototype Veteran, X1) where as the shoulder pods on the missile boat are standard issue. They were an intrinsic part of the craft, something you don't leave without (and therefore zero points) and something that literally makes the laser gun the secondary weapon.

My point is that while there are certain aesthetics to star wars, they are more colour and less design. The shadow squadron ARC to me looks like an Imperial ship. Various republic ships like the Aquitens and Gozanti look Imperial because of a repaint.
Saying a ship doesn't look Imperial only makes sense if they are too warmly lighted/painted. A Lambda shuttle with a huge ass starbird painted on it's dorsal fin does not look Imperial. Sabine's TIE Fighter does NOT look Imperial.
Lastly. Imperial Starfighters don't have to be TIEs. The Empire subcontracts to more than just SFS. Just like the US subcontracts to companies other than Lockheed Martin.

Well, I don't agree with that.
Or at least, I don't agree with the reverse. Painting a ship gray doesn't automatically make it look Imperial. There are more design queues than just the paint job.
Gray paint, utilitarian style. Minimalist.

But the missile boat ITSELF is a unique craft. that's why i'm in the camp of making the missile boat a unique gunboat title that grants extra slots and munition tokens on every munition you buy.
Here's my thought-process on the design:
Modification (2pts, Missile Boat only.) - "When you perform a <torpedo> or <missile> attack that instructs you to discard the card, you may re-equip that card at the end of the next Combat phase."
Essentially, this is meant to compete/contrast with Advanced SLAM. Either you build for running away (with EM to pad the silos) or for a Stygium-esque alternation where you can pull SLAM jumps between launch turns. The wording is also specific in a way that still allows Munitions Failure to function.

Does that mean you get to fire them every other round? Or is that just an overcomplicated way of saying you have unlimited shots?
Every other round, yes.
I mean, you could also double-load missiles/torps, but it gets expensive
Edited by TipperarySo as long as you have at least two missile/torpedo upgrade cards, you could just alternate them and essentially fire warheads every turn, right?
Edited by DarthEnderXSee above^
Thing is, it still ends up costing, and if you try to use EM, EM'll break after the first 2 shots, so the only way to /keep/ alternating is to actually pay full-price for 2 cards.

It's not a unique craft. They're just rare.

Can you think of a battle where muliple missile boats were ever involved?

Isn't there a mission where you, in a missile boat, secure the delivery of more mssile boats?
I thought so too, though it's been so long I don't remember if you actually fly a Missile Boat in that mission.
Either way, Wookieepedia seems pretty certain that there isn't just one Missile Boat.
There isn't just one missile boat. I believe there is a couple of missions where you have a wingman.
But all in all, there shouldn't be more than a dozen or so.
That doesn't make it unique, but it is certainly rarer than "rare". T/D were rare. TIE Phantoms were even rarer. Then the MIS were even rarer than the Phantoms.
A collector could call it "limited". ![]()
It's not as if the Firespray 31 were common...
