I would proxy it, though, by combining some disparate existing ship, token, dial, and upgrades even when they do not really fulfill their requirements:

  1. TIE/SF Pilot card, Token and main stats. Ignore the rear arc for all purposes. Ignore the upgrade bar in the pilot card.
  2. TIE/SF dial.
  3. You may equip a cannon that costs 3 points or less.
  4. You may equip ordnance as if you had two torpedo/missile icons (that is, each of these icons allow you to equip either a torpedo or a missile upgrade).
  5. You may equip the TIE/D title. You may treat Unguided Rockets as if it were a primary attack for the purposes of TIE/D.
  6. You may equip a system.
  7. You may equip a modification.
  8. You cannot equip any TIE only card.

So basically a TIE/D with the System slot and the /sf dial?

I do like the idea of variable slots though, that count as either torp OR missile but not both.

Ah righto.

SO used to the/sf having 3 attack and 3 agi I forgot it actually doesn't.

The Gunboat might be a good place to introduce a Squadron upgrade mechanic.

on a related note; what do people think would be a decent gunboat proxy list? I'm thinking cluster missile/Lightweight frame laden TIE punishers....

Why not playing with the "real" thing? Just join the Custom Card League and enjoy the ride.

... sigh... I... fought the urge to post in this beast for so long... but replaying TIE Fighter infected me...

So, what do you think the dial would be in game? Same greens as an X-Wing (T-65) and reds as a Y-Wing? Maybe give it another slower speed u-turn option?

I think you're probably about right with that dial. There's a couple of ideas on the first page that various people in the community have come up with.

So yeah, I've posted this multiple other places but may as well put it here as well. There's a very clear pattern for FFG's wave and film releases over the last couple of years.

Wave 8 was announced at GenCon in July 2015. The Wave 8 announcement went up on the 31st July following FFG's In Flight report, and featured The Ghost, the Inquisitor's TIE, the Punishing One and the Mist Hunter. Following the GenCon announcement, there was the surprise release of The Force Awakens Core Set on Force Friday (4th September 2015), then the announcement of the T-70 and TIE/fo Expansion Packs the following week, which were "added" to Wave 8, but released seperately (they arrived in December to coincide with the release of The Force Awakens).

Wave 10 was announced at GenCon in August 2016 (GenCon ran from 4th to 7th August, and the Wave 10 announcement went up on 5th August, featuring Sabine's TIE, the Upsilon Shuttle and the Quadjumper. Then, on Force Friday (2nd September 2016) - we got the TIE Striker and U-Wing annoumcement, and again the ships were "added" to Wave 10, but arrived alongside the release of Rogue One.

This year, GenCon 50 runs from Thursday 17th to Sunday 20th August. FFG are again an official partner of the event, the North American Championships are being held there and there are a LOT of other X-Wing events organised for the weekend.

What does this mean for us? I'd expect a Wave 12 announcement at GenCon. It'll probabably follow the pattern of both Wave 8 in 2015 and Wave 10 last year, in that we'll have Rebel, Imperial and Scum ships announced first at GenCOn, then ships from The Last Jedi announced and added on Force Friday II in September.

It also means that the first ships announced for Wave 12 ships most likely won't be ships from The Last Jedi. There's a fair few candidates still out there; Krennic's Shuttle, the Zeta-Class Cargo Shuttle and the Partisan X-Wing could all potentially show up from Rogue One. There's also potential for a Scarif Veterans pack in the future, with X-Wing, Y-Wing and/or U-Wing repaints plus the pilots and crew (K-2SO!!!). There's also the possibility that Wave 12 dips back into the extended universe for inspiration (Gunboat!).

Also the resistance troop transport from The Force Awakens.

I totally forgot about the Partisan x-wing... I'd kill for one of those. Love that paint scheme.

If we do get the Partisan, I'd expect it to be in an "Aces" set. Repaints usually are (unless you count the inordinate amount of H we've seen).

I'm thinking the Gunboat could have a slow dial, like the HWK but with a K-turn. They seem pretty slow (they're easily outpaced by X-Wings and Z-95s), but plenty maneuverable.

They also definitely deserve a barrel roll! I'll spend so much of my time playing X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter just trying to hunt down one stupid Gunboat, because they keep spinning out of the way of my laser fire! Spinning actually is a good trick! Maybe that just represents their agility value though - not sure.

Gunboats can almost kill a fully shielded Y-Wing just in the opening joust, so they should get a primary attack of at least three.

So yeah, I'd vote for Gunboats getting green 1-speed straight and banks, white 1-turns, green 2-straights, white 2-banks and 2-turns, white 3-straights and 3-banks, and red 3-turns and 4-K-turn, with either one agility and barrel roll, or two agility. I personally like the 1 agility and barrel roll better for them (with maybe 4 shields and 5 hull).

And I like the idea of a primary attack of three with three weapon slots. I really think it would be cool if a title made it so your weapon slots were customizable (cannon, missile, or torpedo), as suggested earlier.

Yeah as far as the dial, I imagine it having a Z-95 dial minus the 4 straight, with red 3 hard turns. Possibly throw in a 3 speed S loop because they just love to throw in some special red turn around on most dials these days.

I'd also like to see a bonus, possibly on a title card, for equipping the Ion Cannon. Something like when firing an Ion Cannon add 1 red dice. If the Ion Cannon hits place 2 Ion Tokens instead of 1 and remove 1 additional shield from the defender.

The moderators are a good bunch on the forum. Generally they'll just take a backseat and let things run their course, and only step in if things are getting really out of hand or if they receive complaints.

I'm guessing the latter is probably what happened if you made several posts in a row and someone called their attention to it. What's surprising is that they stepped in for that and not for the vitriol that's been going on elsewhere on the forum in the last couple of weeks or so.

But anyway, back to our beloved star-shaped starship!
