It's not a TIE, so I won't buy any. But I'll be more than happy to shoot them down.

Good luck, the primary defense of the Assault Gunboat, much like the IL-2 Sturmovik, is to let you shoot at it until you've depleted all your weapons.

Oh no! I'm gonna run out of lasers?!

Well, from the source material you'll sputter out a half-powered shot every second or so when your capacitors can manage it. So which will it be, will you give up half your speed to slowly recharge them, or shunt a ton of energy from your shields to give them a quick jolt?

I'll just loop around while they recharge since they aren't gonna be able to catch me.

ACTION! SUSPENSE! All this and more when the QUAD-JUMP-AH is on the screen! Will the heroes make it to the ship? Will it be super cool and be super fast? Will the Garbage (tm) have to do?
so, I don't have one yet but does the Quad hold up to its movie counterpart? (I.e. Does it blow up real good?)
Bombs while retreating...
passing on obvious ww2 joke

Do you like all TIE's, or just the H-shaped ones?

All TIEs.
Even the Punisher and the Crawler?

I just threw up in my mouth. Thanks

Well good thing I didn't bring up the TIE Raptor or TIE Lander. I mean really, so many ugly designs based off of balls with solar panels. Why not something with a real cockpit and actual lifting surfaces that allows the pilot to actually see what's going on to the side of his fighter?
I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to see some Alphabet soup build like the rebels have except make it GGGA or something like that. Heck even GGDD might be a good thing if only to force players to choose between trying to catch X7s or going after the Imperial durability equivalent of the Y-Wing.
Edited by flyboymbSo what we need is for in Rebels, they come across a bunch of TIE Fighters and are all like "Oh yeh noez! Hit da hyperdrive they'll never catch us!" And then they hyperdrive away and are all like "Lulz stupid Empire doesn't realize that hyoerdrive = OP" and then a bunch of GUNBOATS hyperdrive in and disable their ship with missiles, torpedoes and ion shots before they can hyperdrive away.

Did you say Punisher Crawler? That would be awesome, like a huge super tank!

Why would a spacecraft need lifting surfaces and a traditional cockpit? TIEs (and all SW designs) use repulsor lift tech for atmospheric flight, with only the T-47 seen with any concession toward traditional control mechanisms like flaps. S-foils don't seem to be lifting surfaces or have aerodynamic leading edges. Even the Lambda doesn't seem to have properties that would assume any lift from its wings.
Sorry but the GUNBOAT uses repulsor lifts like everything else from probe droids to ISDs but it's easy to see a multitude of micro thrusters along the edges of all those wings that may also serve radiator and/or energy collection functions.
oh and in space with effective weapon ranges of several 10s or 100s of kilometers and computer controlled everything and multiple cameras spread along ever needed angle and the technically possible ability to fire ordnance to non-forward directions, it's surprising any stat pilot would need a cockpit with Windows as anything but a conceit to vanity or the desire to see the beauty of space while cruising. This assumed the glass-like material in cockpits is less durable than the hull plating on starfighters, otherwise an 'invisible jet' situation could occur for TIEs with a completely transparent cockpit

You realize we are talking about Star Wars, don't you?
"Geth do not use Windows... structural weakness".
I always assumed that was a Mac vs PC argument, until I watch Arvel Crynnyd in action again.

let me give you a reason that beats away everything you just said.
All that stuff is boring and unimaginative. Leave that stuff for supercomputers to think interesting.
Cap lack, you should have invoked Rule of Cool, which is what SW ships normally run on.

Whist people were moaning about the ending of Mass Effect 3 (which was actually legit, but I'm a believer of Indoctrination), I was relishing making the Quarian and Geth pay for almost 3 games of irritation...

Indoctrination Theory FTW, knowing Shepard is lying under a pile of rebar and rubble somewhere makes the ending acceptable. First play through I brokered peace between the Geth and the Quarians; every playthrough since Legion's got the bullet, after I realised just how dangerous his behaviour was...
Hey, Andromeda is out soon. I am eagerly awaiting the first reviews...
Yeah, I saw the different options as being which side of the mouth Shephard's tongue drools from.
Yeah Legion has to die. Because his and his race's endurance is how you get Reapers/Skynet. Do you WANT Reap.... oh, nevermind,
Focus, people, focus!
And Target Lock. And maybe Barrel Roll. Depends on which GUNBOAT action bar you believe in.

See, I was somewhat down with the Geth in ME2. Heretics? OK. Finding their own route to full consciousness? Seems legit.
Then ME3, and they've sided with the Reapers AGAIN, and Legion wants to co-opt that self-replicating, impossible to destroy Reaper code to fast -track his race's evolution... yeah, no. Don't think so. #BLAM#. #BLAM# #BLAM#.
Anyway, GUNBOAT. The missing link of the Imperial Navy.

Not Barrel Roll, definitely.
