XG-1 "Star Wing" Assault Gunboat Thread

At least Clone Palps brought us an interesting superweapon in the World Devastators.

And an interesting goal - turn the galaxy into a dark side theocracy, drain life energy out of people, become living god.

Y'know a normal Tuesday for the 40K emprorer.... :P

not hatin', just an observation.

Gah. World Devastators, Sun Crushers... Some of the EU authors clearly took classes in the Matt Ward school of naming conventions

At least the emperor Palpatine never killed space nuns to make incorruptible spesh marines even more incorruptible.

The return of Palpy undermined the entire saga as well as giving us the image of old man Palpy trying to inhabit an unborn child, real demonic **** that probably doesn't belong in SW.

Tie strikers and U wings are cool, Tie Striker with the square pod was weird (THAT one was just for extra toys), and GR75 is a ship you can kick in the nuts.
Why does it have a command scrotum?

You mean MC75?

I think the FO is the least original and imposing resurgent or Successor Imperial State to be drawn up. That's coming from a long line of carbon copy warlords and mustache twirling morons.

Plus there's still no Gunboat.

FO less original than Clone Palpy?

I'd say they're just about tied in terms of ridiculousness. Especially considering the Galaxy Gun is practically Starkiller Base. At least Clone Palps brought us an interesting superweapon in the World Devastators.

The difference is the scope of the buildup as well as the overall scene. The Imperial Warlords managed to unify for the first time since the CoC was broken with Palp and Vaders death. The Galaxy gun was also less ridiculous, it was merely a planet killer. The Starkiller was essentially a combination of the GG and the Sun Crusher, but the overall buildup to it was compressed and more ridiculous along with the FO in general. The overall pathetic Imperial fighting capacity was a stop gap to justify shunting twenty years of a civil war.

So no, the FO is basically the Second Imperium without the Shadow Academy, with a scrounge craft superweapon and a military power base poorly rectified from a retcon where the original Imperial fleet was several times larger. It's not legacy or Luuke stupid, but you may as well call it what it is. Same with the Kylo/Rey analogue to Jaina/Jacen.

I'm extending my workbreak and double posting just to laugh at you. This is probably one of the more original ideas besides Malachor V. No wonder you kids Purists are an even bigger joke than the Primarch reenage drama baby fans from Black Library.

Anyways . . . Let's not get derailed from the point of this thread: Gunboat

I'm really at a loss here, I think you may have missed the point of my post.

GUNBOAT!

(Thank you dark Empire for giving us the E-wing (still ugly), and the next gen Imperial fighters the A-9 and I-7 instead of GUNBOAT or, really, anything else.)

Hey, that must be a picture of me from over twenty years ago!

Why does the MC75 have a scrotum? For teabagging of course!

Still holding out hope for a "XG1 Customs patrol craft" in the Han Solo movie.

With a name like that it might be flown by the Corporate Sector Authority...

So the XG1 would be scum faction only? I'd laugh so hard at that.

Sabine's Gunboat confirmed.

So did anyone take my bet on FFG gunboat not being released before Plastic Sisters of Battle? Because.....

Plastic Sisters of Battle? pfff ... too probable. How about Plastic Steel Legion instead?

You rate the XG1's chances that low?

God it's not as if we are saying plastic genest... wait... what?

Refresh my memory, did the Red striped gunboat come first or the solid white?

Solid white IIRC. First appearance in the original X-Wing.

From TIE Fighter - plain white:

The red stripe first appeared in X-Wing Alliance, I think?

Well, does one miniature released in plastic count?
