Except orks and nids which haven't been good in going on a decade.
Yeah, Chaos Marines at least have Demon allies or FW to do all the work for them. The core rules for them still suck, but at least we have something.

After playing Tie fighter and being stuck at a level for a bit, I decided to defect back to the original Xwing for a few levels.
And goddam, I see why Incom did NOT win that contract over sienar. Sure, everything they have has shields. Big whoop.
But the targeting computer tells me nothing, there's no "match speed" command, and some genius decided to put the lasers out on arms longer than loyalist ties are wide, preventing any kind of quad-burst snap fire in a dogfight.
I havnt even gotten far enough to face an Intercepter yet, let alone a gunboat. The game crashed before I could finish the campain 1 redemption mission.
The GOG version seems to be stable enough. Are you trying to run from the original disc?
The things I like about X-Wing over TIE Fighter is that you always had a shield bar to shunt into engines so you could max laser recharge at no cost to speed. You also had to be more of a purist when fighting against ships. You felt like a freaking hero if you managed to use an X-Wing or A-Wing to weave through the fire of a Nebulon and finally cause it to belly up. At the same time you cursed the Corvettes that could bullseye you if you flew straight for more than 2 seconds in their firing range. Some of the missions were real nail biters. I remember the mission where you had to switch out a disabled convoy's cargo and shuttles before an ISD arrived. You took out the fighters easy enough. But it was nerve-wracking sitting there waiting for the slow as molasses freighters to dock and then limp to their hyperspace points. Having the ISD show up a few minutes before they escaped added some more pucker to it.
On the downside, trying to earn a training badge was grounds for slamming your face into the monitor. 'The maze' may have been a great idea in theory, but having to go through 8 levels of the stuff to get your uniform completely decked out was overkill. The music also left a lot to be desired. TIE Fighter's original soundtrack was beautiful and really captured the escalating tension as you got closer to the enemy. X-Wing just murdered your ears after 5 minutes of looping the Falcon escaping the Death Star theme. Finally, some of the visual upgrades in the later versions were a bit worse off than the originals. The B-Wing looked to be larger than a Nebulon's hangar in cutscene and they didn't put the X-Wing together right so they didn't close properly.
Steam's Classic Edition, because I dont have a joystick.
Just beat redemption with mouse.
That was actually a pretty big mistake in the original X-Wing games - Nebulons don't have internal hangers.

Gog actually gives you all versions.
Same here I'd played rebel assault 2 (I was young and stupid) and am a massive dark forces fan.
I definitely knew what a TIE Phantom was, and while I didn't know what an HWK-290 was, I knew the Moldy Crow when I saw it.To be fair, me and my friends were all shaking our heads and saying "What the hell is a TIE Phantom?" when Wave 4 was released. And I had no idea what a HWK-290 was either.
On the otherhand, the K-Wing and TIE Punisher I had to look up. Had never seen either of them before.
The k and punisher were unknown to me.
I already knew what all of the EU ships were before getting into X-Wing. I didn't play EaW Battlegrounds and the RTS games, but I did know what the TIE Interdictor and Advanced Bomber were before the Punisher rename. I also played Rebel Assault 2, and I beat TIE Fighter. Only ships I'm not familiar with are Disney and a handful of scum craft as I didn't play Galaxies.
Let me put it in perspective. You know how Space Marine was an adequate game that presented both decent gameplay that was actually challenging here and there, and a character that was more believable than Cato Sicarius will ever be?I keep hearing the mmo is just awful, where as Deathwing seems to be Demon's Souls lucky and hit the nail on the head.
Unfortunately like Space Marine, I haven't touched ACFA in a long time. Or Battlefront. Or several games for that matter.
Take out every part of that but leave the engine in, screw it up a little and you have the MMO.
Yeah, I heard from testers on the Slaanesh group that the game has a number of problems, without talking about balance.
The only people who like Cato are Ward fans, where as you should like Kato instead.
The Eldar are friggin broken.
The Eldar have been overpowered for years. GW's answer is to just make everyone overpowered, but Eldar are easily the easiest to cheese.
They're OP as hell in DoW: Ultimate Apocalypse too. My friend who enjoys playing Eldar gave them a shot, and even she was surprised by the RIDICULOUS storm ability they get at some point that just... Eradicates everything.
As a Guardsman player in DoW:UA I'm just glad she's always on my side.
Annnnnnd: cut. End scene.
Now, back to the task at hand; get the crazy Mouse to push FFG for a Gunboat.

So does Steam, but you need a joystick to play 2 of them.
Can you not just get a cheapo Xbox-style PC gamepad? that's what I'm using for X-Wing Alliance.
I could, but I can play Classic Edition without it.
I just want to do ai battles where I disable the blocks in craft selection in XWA.
I miss having a gaming PC. Also, someone uploaded proper Storm Trooper armor to the Xbone FO4 mods.
Hey guys, this is the Assault Gunboat thread, lets keep to topic.

FFG had better be paying attention!
Doing my weekly check-in to see if we have a gunboat yet. Guess I'll check again on Christmas. Forget Santa, I just want a gunboat from FFG already.
SPOILER ALERT: nogunboats in Rogue One.
Shame too, Krennik seems like the guy to use them.

Pffft. Yet they find time to come up with a lame new Rebel ship...
I like the U-WING!
I like the U-WING!
I honestly think all of the new ships in TFA and RO are mediocre or ugly.

Yeah I'd rank them as mediocre. The Striker is an ok enough design, but the U-wing could have done without the crazy pivoting wings (that was just for toy sales I feel). Still not as fail-tastic as Inverted Color Scheme TIEs though (grumble grumble).
I think the FO is the least original and imposing resurgent or Successor Imperial State to be drawn up. That's coming from a long line of carbon copy warlords and mustache twirling morons.
Plus there's still no Gunboat.
All I want for Christmas...

FO less original than Clone Palpy?

I'd say they're just about tied in terms of ridiculousness. Especially considering the Galaxy Gun is practically Starkiller Base. At least Clone Palps brought us an interesting superweapon in the World Devastators.
