Death on Black Wings... I always loved the launch animation in TIE. Especially for the Gunboat.

Was there ever an animation in the games of the gunboat actually unfolding its wings? It seems in TIE Fighter we have the launch from the bay and then boom we are flying and the wings are already deployed. Also GUNBOATS make hyperjumps with their wings deployed, just like big brother Lambda, while X and B-wings close their s-foils...strange.

I think that's because the wings on the Lambda and the Gunboat aren't s-foils, per se. They're meant to fold strictly for storage, whereas s-foils are for <insert supposed purpose of s-foils, which I'm too lazy to look up at this particular moment>.

TIE Hunters had shields, Ion cannons, and S-foils. The Imperial commander's guide had Madines scribbling saying he loved the craft, dumping them in a reservoir and pulling them out no worse for wear.

I feel that a tie fighter floating in a lake, top hatch just above the waterline, with the pilot perched on top with a fishing line, would make an amazing picture.

Tie fighter is a funny way to spell GUNBOAT.

I love the look of the tie scimitar, it has amazing panels and the hexagon pod is sweet. The only part that I dont like is the front pod portion that looks really tacked on and unaesthetic. Here is what I envisioned it would look like if the cockpit ended at the hexagon section. Much cooler IMO

You mean the A-9 Vigilance? Yeah, that thing is basically "let's make a fighter that's just like the TIE/ln but without the iconic look". In-universe it makes perfect sense. KDY wanted to get in on that thousands of disposable fighters (and the inevitable thousands more purchased to replace losses) action, and Sienar would sue them if they actually copied the TIE. But it's just kind of boring.

It's not that the pod is tacked on, it's that it's designed to eject as an escape pod. Whether that's a good idea is another question; that's much better pilot survivability than if they installed an ejection seat, but it also adds more mass than an ejection seat would. Which is an odd choice because once you add an ejection seat to a TIE the pilot is already in better shape than a Rebel pilot (presuming he lives long enough to eject in the first place) since he's in a fully sealed spacesuit.

I know that it is an escape pod, but the transition on the model itself looks like crap. Pair that with the flying phallus jokes and it really could use a bit of a redesign.

Twing should be in the game, I like the escort shuttle too. Unlike the XG-1 however, as I had previously mentioned I can't see the Escort shuttle ever officially being in x-wing due to the 3 other shuttles (Kylos, the Magnificent pearl universal walrus, the Rogue one shuttle we are sure to get) and also the Firespray, which has it's arsegun.

In campaign games, I do run Imperial Firesprays. My Escort shuttle model is used. Also mentioned that before, but hey it's a good way to use it!

Isn't the wing span of the rouge one shuttle gonna make it impossible to model? The wings are freaking huge.

GUNBOAT can float in mid air, just park it like a speeder bike above the water, sit on the nose and cast your line. Or use the 1 pt Fishing Rod Cannon Upgrade and fish from the cockpit. The wingspan is also wide enough to have all the honeys sunbathing on the 'BOAT.
