XG-1 "Star Wing" Assault Gunboat Thread

By FTS Gecko, in X-Wing

I'd pick gunboat over autowins every time.

So idea, what if we all just started ordering shapeways gunboats and having them delivered to FFG.

That reminds me of the time when Mass Effect gamers all banded together to send Bioware's HQ several dozen boxes of red, blue and green cupcakes in protest at Mass Effect 3's ending. Three different colours; three identical flavours.

edit: yes, that actually happened:

(Bioware ended up giving the cupcakes away to a local charity).

I remember when they raised tens of thousands of dollars to convince Bioware to do change it, and ended up donating it to charity because Bioware couldn't change it or accept it. I got tired of the drama to the point I asked Priestly to ban me. Fun times.

Hmm, I'm guessing I probably bumped into you a couple of times on the Bioware forums then (indoctrination theory for life; btw ;) )

Oh dear ****, the Indoctrination theory is another example of human stupidity at rationalizing something that is just stupid or terrible.

No offense to you, I probably did bump into you. Remember the Angry chick who always fought with everyone over anything?

Which one...

She always had the female Shepard avatar, I can't remember her username but you'd know her if you saw her.

This one?

That does ring a bell, but there were plenty of angry young people on the forum around that time, of both genders. I butted heads with a fair few of them as ElSuperGecko.

Just took a look at the Bioware forum for old time's sake. Flltering the Story forum by "most replies" brings up a lot of familiar topics. Very familiar, very LONG topics. I think the game probably got far more discussion than it deserved.

Mind you, it remains my most-played multiplayer game of all time. Considering people though the multiplayer was going to be tacked on as an afterthought, Bioware did really well with it for a first effort.

Not going to go into the IT debate, suffice to say it's my head canon, and I'm happy with it. Bioware gave us an open ending, so I chose mine.

At this rate we might actually reach the 1000 page benchmark at which point ffg will be morally obligated to release this ship :P

Nah, angry old people too. A lot of people like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. And no, she had some **** eating grin face from a ME1 import. Better left forgotten.

Armored Core and Dark Souls remain my most played Multiplayer games, but nothing is topping 2000+ hours of Morrowind, and an ungodly amount of Battlefront 2 and XWA.

Most played games of all time; the Mass Effect series probably has to take it. Over 400 hours on multiplayer (!), probably about 100 single player for each game. Skyrim's up there too, as is Baldur's Gate.

I remember playing X-Wing Alliance online on dial-up when it first came out (tha'ts actually where my username on this forum came from), but 20 years and half a dozen PCs and installations later and I still haven't finished the single player campaign...

If mass effect had controller support for 2 and 3 i'd get them again for my PC.

Ending sucked, but the journey...

The journey.

I didn't start playing multiplayer games until after I got out of the military and went to college. So I missed out on a lot of online gaming, but had some co-op and old-fashioned splitscreen matches.

The voice actor recall, rehashing, free ending edit DLC, and then a paid DLC justifying their choices and having to re-explain why you're doing it with Leviathans. Citadel was so good because half of everything else was so bad without one of the main writers. It's a good thing CDProjekt learned from Bioware and Ubisoft.

You shouldn't really be surprised, fickle; what are Star Wars fans known for after all, if not their absolute insane level of dedication?

I'm just glad I got here way before 50 pages. I would've missed so much!

Dude, she's 7.

Oh, she is a little old to start playing, so what? :P

PS: My boy at 4 played FPSs better than many "gamers" out there... in a few years he might be beating me. And I'm looking forward for that.

I'm known for being scary, and my reputation from Section 8 and AC preceded me as an ******* repeatedly.

If they Like Minecraft, look into Starbound. that's a really good sandbox game. It's like terraria, in space. It's great.

I've got Starbound. It's not on xbox though and i don't let them use my PCs...

How can anyone say never to that gorgeous piece of Star Wars history?

Lots of wings folding and unfolding in that Rogue One trailer.

I like that.

We've had three winged ships (Lambda Shuttle, Return of the Jedi and the Sentinel Landing Craft, A New Hope). We've had two winged ships (Kylo Ren's Upsilon-class Shuttle, Force Awakens). Now Rogue One's giving us four winged Imperial ships.

Maybe it won't be all that long before we'll see five winged Imperial ships...
