looking back, Dark forces was brilliant because it lacked lightsabres. I mean, I know they were not included because the game engines couldn't do them justice, but the fact it was badass normal vs stormtroopers and super stormtroopers REALLY worked.

The fact it kept in ships from the 90s lucasarts era, giving it a kind of internal consistancy (The BFF-2 freighter you smuggled yourself onto and started on in the executor mission) just was the icing on the cake, again with Dark Forces 2 / Mysteries of the sith keeping DX-9s, R-41s, Gunboats and I think T-wings was even cooler.

I just replayed Dark Forces (and then again on Hard because I hate myself and love Dark Souls) and I am astounded at how well the game holds up.

Yes yes, polygons, keycards, impossible vertical aiming, but aside from all of that the story, music, level progression, and sense of accomplishment are still as fresh and full as ever! Kyle doesn't have to be a space wizard, in-training or otherwise, in order to accomplish great things. He's capable and committed, and has a great support team. Jan, Mon Mothma, Crix Madine, everyone works together to stop a major threat to the Rebellion.

It's still one of my favourite Star Wars stories, even if Jedi Knight goes off the rails a bit. I'm hoping we get a renewed interest in that style/era with Rogue One coming out later this year.

I proudly own one(because I realize that FFG won't make one). I've modded the games so I can fly them in the past.

The ship also appears in MOTS dropping off Stormtroopers.

I assume by "we" you mean the Gunboat people who are too cool to ask for TIEs like a normal person. In which case, I still assume you folks are going to move on to the Missile Boat.

Assault Gunboat (imp) > Missile Boat (imp) > Skipray (Scum) > R-41 (rebel) > Tie Avenger (imp) > Escort Shuttle (imp) > DX9 (imp)

The Gunboat is a heavy duty jouster which lacks evasion and repositioning like a cross between a Y and B

The Missile Boat is a specialist munitions Slam ship which is very unique but very cool

The Skipray could function as a Scum decimator of sorts

The R-41 is like the Rebel version of a Tie Fighter

The Tie Avenger is super cool but honestly fills a very slim niche between the ADV, INT and DEF. It should exist but lower priority.

The escort shuttle would be similar to the Ghost with 4 dice attacks and a rear arc, but no deployable shuttle

The DX9... I don't know what this would do but it and the freighter from Tie Fighter would be cool adds for missions.

The avenger will come without a crusade they had their chance to use avenger in the advanced fix and didn't.

Ties don't need a crusade non ties do.

Honestly if the next tie is 2 attack I will cry.
