I mean, Hyperspace Assault covers that in a way, albeit with a ship of some sort to arrive with. If (when) they do make it into Armada, I can see them getting Rogue and Bomber. Imperials don't have any cheap, decent Rogue options right now, and it'd be nice to have something that isn't 22 points but can still hold its own against both fighters and ships.
I can absolutely see an ace allowing a deployment or movement shenanigan though. Maybe something like "You may deploy this squadron during the ship phase" as a deployment delay showing they arrived with the ships, not on them. One can dream about "You may deploy this squadron within R1 of an obstacle. Up to 2 further XG1 squadrons may deploy within range one of this squadron", because if they have Rogue and Bomber, ain't nobody got time for Fighter Ambush...

I think "full" is a bit of an overstatement. I think the idea was that the trench had less turrets than the surface. And also, in the trench, you could only be attacked by a couple turrets at a time, as opposed to countless turrets at once if you were flying around in the sky.

Not to mention that it was easy, shields set to full forward recharging 'em with the cannons' energy. ?

There was a way to skip along the trench and get some speed burst while avoiding most of the towers and guns. I remember it took some finesse but when you got near the end you popped up, fired right into the target and then kicked it all to engines to get away.

Ah, never tried it that way. I needed to feel the thrill of having all the enemies pursuing me in the trench. :D

Have to wonder if the other titles will give the Gunboat some capacity as a Jumpmaster killer? Fielding 3 with AHM and 1 with a TB (or 4 with AHM and chimps and TL) could lead to 1 in 3 of the Scouts being either heavily crippled or outright destroyed in the first turn.

Not knowing the cost of Rho or what points the other titles may or may not cost, one can only speculate.

But if the Gunboats could SLAM out of range and reload, would they be able to out-Alpha 3 Jumpmasters with repeated critical damage through the shields, similar hp (with said damage being done) and equal Evade?

Gonna try to get my group to let me fly Major Vynder with a Ywing dial.

Even if the other title is just assault config with missiles... VI Vynder with Prockets.

In any case the best way to bring balance to a game where one faction has a wildly popular and OP ship is to bring in a somewhat balanced ship that just so happens to be popular and blows the OP build out of the water.

If the Gunboat not only upset the meta in that way but also brought back fighters that were pushed out by the current meta (like say fast arc-dodgers or beefier jousters) to counter them then the game would be on a path to recovery.

Heck, have to wonder how much havoc Gunboats will wreak on TLT builds? They're too beefy to stand a good chance of taking down 1 per turn, can likely SLAM out of range to get ready for another strike, and can certainly put out more damage compared to TLT.

A little disappointed that it doesn't come pre-painted with red trim, but I suppose it'll do.

So, when are they going to release the Class-J Containers and Cargo Freighters?

I'm not advocating replacing one OP ship with another, I'm saying that if there's a build that teeth kicks an unbalanced portion of the game while enabling other builds to counter it we bring balance to the Force.

The Gunboat has no turret, half of its actions take away attacks for one turn unless you spend points on a beam weapon, and it isn't likely to be turning with A-Wings or TIE Interceptors or Fighters.

In essence, these guys are hopefully going to murder big, huge, and slow ships while sweating in a dogfight. They aren't just going to be jousters, they're edge of the bell curve super dedicated jousty McJoustersons. If they make an impact on the meta which currently sees large ships wiping out aces or anybody that relies on arc-dodging, the game already has a counter for that impact in the form of anti-jousting builds.

A-Wings are going to try to chase these guys down, Nera is going to be doing funky rolls and maneuvers while popping torps into them outside of all their firing arcs, Imperial Firesprays... are still going to suck. But the Gunboat isn't going to be a meta black hole in the same way that JM5K and Palp Aces turned out to be.

I hope that it mellows out the meta, and Gunboats were built on hope!

Another thing of note is that the Assault Gunboat title and any 2 point beam weapon laughs in the face of Kylo Ren and ISYTDS at least where Blinded Pilot is involved. RAC gets an uncancelled crit, Gunboat is blinded, during movement phase the Gunboat Reloads and/or SLAMS, still can shoot at the darkness, loses the blindedness with 3 more hull to spare and out of range of RAC if it is smart, turns around to give RAC the next barrage of warheads.

Damaged Cockpit? Nu don't care

Shaken Pilot? SLAM don't care

Stunned Pilot?... That's probably an issue now.

As it's got SLAM, I'd probably try the K-Wing dial.

I'm not sure I can see us getting something quite as awesome as a 2-bank SLAM'd into a 2-k, despite stress.

You all are overestimating the Ywing dial.

I dont think I used a single maneuver that wasnt on the Kwing dial, because all the other maneuvers were red and there's only 2 green moves.

With Linked battery flechette cannon and a focus token, I was reliably rolling 2-3 hits with my flechette. Unfortunately, I was up against a non 3po Han and Nym, which meant they had the HP to absorb my nimble, accurate harassment. Ion Kestal did some work, but had the same nickle-and-dime problem.

Guys still can't believe it. We have the Gunboat!! :D
