Pics? Hard to find any for a Nebby with racks

Nebulons don't have any internal hangar space. They did in the original X-Wing (and TIE Fighter, IIRC), but this was probably more to do with a limited number of capital ships in the game (the original X-Wing had Nebulons, Star Destroyers, the Interdictor and... er... that's it).

What the Nebulon DOES have is the central spar section, which we see the Millennium Falcon connected to Gozanti docking clamp style at the end of Empire Strikes Back. It's not unreasonable to suggest that a Nebulon could carry a squadron of starfighters connected to docking tubes on the central spar section, but the Legends numbers quoted on the Wookiee? No chance.

Well there are deck plans (I have to check wether they are official. At least they have the style of the D6 RPG) showing infernal internal (well this typo is quite funny) Hangar Space with racks for TIEs.

Also some guys at SD.net managed to fitted a lot of fighters into the hull of a Nebulon. Question is wether this was before the rescale of the TIE.

When I'm home I'll print a schematic of the Nebulon in 1/270 and compare it to the models.

Also: Remember that there ar many different versions of the Nebulon B. The ones carrying 24 fighters were not the medical versions. And also thete are cases of Nebs with a thicker mid section which is probably a hangar refit.

Regarding the external racks: This information isn't fanon. I think it was the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook stating that Nebs were able to carry ships up to Shuttle sie in external racks.

Huh, Rogue Leader was ahead of its time, it was out a good decade before X-Wing Miniatures was released and already the X-Wing was being tossed for other fighters.

Someone's new to the EU.

TBH, I've never picked up a Star Wars book or comic or did much of anything outside the games, movies, and the odd glance at the Wook. But IIRC, the EU was just the opposite of X-Wing. I believe that the X-Wing was a favored fighter of whatever new name they called the New Republic for that week all the way to the Fel dynasty. Couldn't even get replaced by the E-Wing, which does tie in quite well with the TTG.

Of course, when you have Rogue Squadron making idle conversation while turbolasers bounce off their shields and they get 25 TIE kills each battle, I doubt you could ever find a fighter with enough plot armor to be a suitable replacement.

Essentially, but they did have a number of craft. Rogue Squadron just stagnated the way it is, much like how rehashed Cameos is. I personally preferred the TIE Bomber in Rebel Strike.

E-Wings are basically a reverse-role F-35 for Escort and recon duties. It didn't have as much popularity because A) early design flaws in weapon placement and R7 efficiency, and B)because casual fans won't recognize it and hardcore fans don't like variation. What was intended as a replacement only really got shifted to the 5th Fleet with all the new toys, as the NR had a surplus of various ship lines from different era's and origins.

I personally wish Lucas wasn't so ******* gimpy with Post Endor games, I'd love to shoot a bunch down.

Yeah, fighter sim-wise I think the best we got was the one bonus level in Rogue Squadron where you have to take out the World Devastators. Wasn't really something to scratch that particular itch though. It really is weird though, as I thought the only place that was out of bounds for books and games was the Clone Wars era since George had obvious plans and wanted virgin soil to plant them in.

Lucas was just finicky. EaW and the really sh*tty PSP battlefront games had post endor campaigns, but they exceptions before Lucas put the boot in.

Arg... stuck in the tie fighter campain, campain 9.

Mission is hold off the attackers long enough to evacuate the tie defender factory.

The Gunboats are easy enough, I can pick off the transports while dogfighting the advanceds, but somewhere in there, bombers slip through and take a mission critical shuttle from full to 0 in a single salvo- my first warning is the "Mission Crittical vehical under att-Shields dow-Hull conditon crit-DESTROYED.

Oh, those are just more docking clamps. I figured it was going to be an extended structure along the central spar, almost like stubby wings. Or better yet an enclosed module connected to the spar that fills the void between the fore and aft portions of the hull.

What game's that for?

Well, that's something that even the SWCCG didn't do.

Hope?

Gunboats are built on hope.

It's beautiful man.

Well, since the creation time for Interceptors, A-Wings, and possibly even Defenders is being pushed back to pre-Yavin, maybe the Gunboat can be pushed back as well? We need to start spamming Gunboat images to Christopher Miller and Phil Lord and maybe they'll be included in the Young Indiana Jones Han Solo Adventures.

Do that, but dont call them gunboats.

Call them Customs Patrol Boats.

Ions, hyperspace, shields... they have what they need.

Ooooooooohhhhhh they would look PERFECT flanking a Customs Corvette..!
