SWX58 could be the Gunboat Expansion, dropping as a surprice in 2-3 weeks just ready for under the tree.
Because FFG just want to say have a merry X-mas and happy (pew pew) hollidays.

My wallet's ready! ![]()
My wallet's been ready for three years now.
In fact, it might have taken matters into it's own hands on Cyber Monday.
K guys. I'll be out with it.
Rebels has probably just killed the Gunboat.
It (spoiler alert) has introduced the TIE Defender way ahead of ESB Stating also that it's the first Imperial Fighter with Shields.
While it isn't stated to have a hyperdrive come on, it's a TIE Defender, of course it does. Now, For all we know the Rebels will do something that pushes the Defender production back by a few years - meaning that cygnus makes the gunboat as a stopgap. That would be great. But this is all supposition at this point, as it stands right now. Imperials are manufacturing at least prototypes for the T/D A good 3-4 years before Yavin.
If the Imps have Defenders in production, then they don't need Gunboats.
Well unless ofc the production facilities get blown up at some point by a certain Rebel cell, and they need to go to another company for a Hyperdrive enabled ship.
Right. One is by Cygnus, the other by SFS. Competing military contracts, and all.
So how long do you think we have until Sabine's TIE Defender comes out?
So how long do you think we have until Sabine's TIE Defender comes out?
Hopefully never.
Oh, he's been doing this for ages, it's compulsive.
Oh, I realised the post was by McFoy. I take everything back xD
So how long do you think we have until Sabine's TIE Defender comes out?
Hopefully never.
I'd feel Dead Space 2 levels of hatred all over again.

No, DS2 multiplayer. By the time I finished every major squad or clan hated my guts. Along with one of my exes.
ME3 didn't hit me as hard, but it really was bad.
Looking at your nickname you should become our mascot
ROFL!
I would be absolutely delighted and deeply honoured!
But I'm time/money poor!!
Ahh-I haven't bought into X-Wing yet! If the Gunboat comes out though...

My poor Avenger.
Aww man...poor us!
Surely there's still hope!

Does your ego really need that much of a boost that you have to be a downer on a plastic spaceship forum so as to convince yourself there are people less enlightened than you want to be?
Some people are just so negative...
If you want to take it personally sure, go ahead. I felt it was a double edged sword really. A reminder to myself that I need new material and that I have played a role in this threads continuance as much as it is a commentary on your practices.
It is refreshing though to see Darius still hopeful yet trying to wrangle the reality of it all too.

2016, for all of it's faults has given us Deathwatch, Genestealer Cults and in a few days time apparently - Sisters of battle.
I can still be hopeful for a gunboat based on the unlikelihood of all of the above.
Nevertheless I do feel that Rebels has killed it's chances pretty hard outside of them delaying production of the defender or 5 years or so...
DX-9 is still canon.
Say it ain't so DariusAPB, say it ain't so.
You can't lose the faith now. If the Defender can appear in Rebels, so can the Gunboat. They both have a proud history, they both have roles in the Imperial Navy, and they both originated in the same game series.
They're like the keys on Paul McCartney's piano, dagnamit.
Personally, I'm much more worried about the possibility of Sabine's Defender. If it turns up in Rebels, she's guaranteed to get her thieving hands on it at some point.
I just want Sabine to die.
She's the weakest link, the Rebels team need a tragedy to really punch them home. Should be Sabine.
I do have faith, but I also have logic. Unless the Defenders are specifically shown to be delayed indefinitely via the actions of the rebels, if Imperials have ready access to Defenders (and not just like 12 of them throughout the entire empire) then... yeah. There is no need for the Gunboat. Back in the EU when Defenders were rare and super-elite, and Gunboats were far cheaper (but still expensive compared to a TIE) then sure, the Gunboat is the coolest thing the Empire had at large.
These are not those days. This isn't that star wars.
OH.
And DX-9 is still canon.
Have we ever thought of buying Darius a DX-9 plushie?
Edited by RogueLeader42I'd totally put it next to my Cacodemon plushy.
The DX-9 is one of but two ships I have custom 3d printed models of.

Defenders being that early makes about as much sense as graverobbing every early prototype or special design just for one backwater planet. Anyone needs to die, because the show just drags on and offers absolutely nothing useful to the background. It's literally a milking fest.
I should be jumping for joy, but GW is too expensive for me to refit the game. Who am I kidding, I just bought Anvil Industries bits to buff some Plague/Noise Marines up. Lol
Well there's other things to consider here. Maybe Assault Gunboats have longer range and more endurance than the TIE Defender? Maybe they're more able to patrol large swaths of space while the Defender is more of a fighter for striking against known targets?
Think of the Gunboat as the Albatross vs. the Defender's Peregrine Falcon. The Albatross will stay out at sea for years at a time while the Peregrine goes aloft only to hunt for short stints.
Of course I doubt either Disney or FFG will make that kind of distinction.

Oh you haven't heard plastic sisters are not happening any time soon, sisters in the new book are all the old metals.
They have to get rid of the stockpile somehow. Also somewhat more resilient for a faction that loves fire so much.
We'll see. I still think 2017 will give us plastic SoB.
We should do a bet.
Plastic SoB Range or FFG XG-1 Assault gunboats.
Which will come first?
My money is on the Sisters.
Edited by DariusAPBDepressingly, I'm not sure I'd take that bet. Even though Gunboats would likely outsell plastic Sisters by an entire order of magnitude...

I am disagreeing with precisely nothing you have just said.
