Sienar Fleet Systens: No Shields, All Guts

Cygnus Spaceworks: Imperial Lives Matter

After the Mk1, I prefer the Mk2, though it could be in X-wing as a title.

"TIE Fighter only. Imperial only. Primary weapon value is set to 0. Add a cannon slot."

I prefer tge Mk V. Many a times I cringed as a teen working on a dinky computer teying to get the file to modify so I can fly them.

Which one was the flying bomb? I lost track of how many times the Liberty blew up in that bloody nebula..

Mk IV.

Mk III was also nice.

Except for those 10 ships they make with shields.

1 x TIE Advanced (Vader), 1 x Inquisitor's TIE, 8 x TIE Defenders.

Yep, 10 ships out of millions is probably about right.

In Legends, there were several thousand TIE Defenders completed.

Which still represents less than 0.01% of the fighters in the Imperial fleet.

100% of Cygnus's Starfighters had shields (and life support).

Over 99% of Sienar's starfighters did not.

With the exception of the Advanced X1s, Gunboats came before them.

In Legends, there were several thousand TIE Defenders completed.

As well as Hunters, Avengers, X1 styled Advanced, Oppressors, Heavy Bombers, Scimitar Assault Bombers, and more obscure craft. The difference is irrelevant as most of the EU ignored them.

The X-wing novels did mention TIE Advanced a few times. In the 1st book there is a question made by Wedge about the fighter breakdown on the target planet and he does mention advanced (eyeballs, squints, dupes, or brights)

Honestly that has never happened to me. The AWACS transports usually nailed me to the ground before anything else bad could happen.

Not to mention Interceptors modified to carry shields...

Except for those 10 ships they make with shields.

In this game alone, Sienar has more ships with shields than without:

Fighter

Bomber

Interceptor

Striker

vs.

Advanced

Advanced Prototype

Phantom

Defender

Punisher

/fo

/sf

And that doesn't even cover a bunch from the EU like the Hunter, Avenger or Oppressor.

OK, so you've listed several experimental, prototype, elite and limited run fighters. Again, these count for less than 0.01% of the Empire's navy, and clearly do not reflect Sienar's overall design philosophy.

And as for the TIE/fo and TIE/sf - they were built by Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems.

I think we can clearly thank the boffins at Jaemus for campaigning for shields as standard on First Order craft.

I believe Admiral Acbar explained "brights" as "advanced models."

So Advanced, Avengers, Hunters, Defenders, and all the rest could be rolled into "brights"

They could, but I really don't think they do. It probably does apply to both Advanced x1 and Avengers. But I doubt it applies to the rest given that Defenders were expressly nicknamed "trips" and the rest didn't exist yet when those books were written.

So...I've been thinking.

I've supported a couple of "Kickstarter" projects before, and I wonder if the same couldn't be done for the Assault Gunboat. I'm not suggesting an after market version - I would only want an official FFG approved, from their factory, they get the profit version. But what if we raised the money for FFG and handed them a "Hey FFG, here's a cheque for $x amount of dollars. Can you approve this thing now and give us our Gunboat please?"

I know I've brought this up once before (A long time ago, in a galax....) but! I can't give up ladies & gents! We must prevail, we must not give up! We must band together and get our Gunboat!!!!

Seriously though, what do you guys think? Would you guys be willing to prepay for this project?

Easy answer, zero chance.

No you can't make a kick starter for a game you don't own to add intellectual property you don't own either.

It was simply an analogy...that's all.

The highest chance to get the Gunboat is to convince Pablo Hidalgo to add it back to the canon. Or request for it to appear in Rebels to Dave Filoni.

Some kind of public request where fans can sign in showing their interest, then link it to someone's Twitter to grab their attention.

Once the ships appears, even as a cameo, in some canon product, FFG will perhaps use it.

It will not work in any other way.

I started a petition to get Obama to make it happen for you but none of you so called advocates signed it.

Point well taken. My mistake - just trying to get my Gunboat, Gunboat,Gunboat,Gunboat,Gunboat,Gunboat,Gunboat,Gunboat,Gunboat....
