After playing Gwent, I wouldn't mind neutral ships like that.

The gunboats are obviously better than many traditional jousting ships. But where are jousting ships in the current metagame? Certainly there are no B-wings of any stripe in the metagame, so I don't think a comparison to them makes any sense, nor does a comparison to the base statline Y-wing (which mirrors the gunboat and is 2 points more expensive). The only time we see Y-wings is with specific TLT-based builds (TLT thugs or stressbot), just as the only time that we see gunboats is when they have cannons.

the best comparison we had on hand to test the jousting power of the gunboats was triple jumps, and gunboats lost consistently in the matchups I tested, and were adjusted to prevent 4 medium PS gunboats from carrying HLCs, which probably would have been more effective in a direct matchup against jumpmasters. It can certainly be argued that a new test of their jousting power is needed since jumpmasters got hit with the nerf bat. But while triple jump masters were meta-defining, they were not meta-dominating (they were arguably part of a meta tripod, did not outright win every high-level tournament in which they were brought, and were routinely beaten by other top lists).

I've not seen any matchups so far where the gunboats have gone up against a top tier meta list and won (and I have seen them lose to a top-tier jousting list repeatedly). If it's the case that they can consistently beat established meta lists, then they should of course be nerfed.

Play what you want to, or what you think will win you matches. Half the purpose of this tournament is to identify flaws in the custom cards. If you think gunboats are OP, I think you should prove it on a table. It doesn't need to be a tournament table, but I think that they're in the range where actual testing is needed, not theorycrafting.

In any case I think I'll be running test games with gunboats vs top lists outside the tournament to try to parse out where they fall in the metagame power curve. I suggest others do the same and report their findings.

You know what Gadge? That looks awesome. I don't even care if it's fake, it looks amazing.

Quick analysis of the image: the ship seems to be missing it's secondary wings. The cockpit looks more Lambda-ised than usual, more so than in it's artwork and the *ahem* alternatives already out there on the market.

So it looks as though this is either an original image or one which has been modified slightly to give it it design cues that are closer to the Lambda.

Maybe it's in Rogue One, and just hasn't been shown off yet? There's a couple of Lambda-esque ships in the trailers (the four-winged lander, the three-winged shuttle at the start of the latest trailer). Maybe it's being kept hush-hush until the film is released.

Or maybe it's just a really good piece of fan design, and another example of the community's creativity.

One note of caution; I know the Gunboat's layout makes it an odd fit, but I can't think of any other X-Wing ship which would sit in the packaging like that. Most X-Wing ships lie flat in the packaging. I'm guessing that would be a Punisher/K-Wing size pack, but even so would it be big enough?

OK, the URL structure in the image and various other details like image size etc are the same as what's used in the FFG shop. That doesn't really mean anything, because all someone would need to do is to navigate to the URL of an existing image (say the TIE Striker - https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/f4/1d/f41dff5f-2c81-4920-b996-4d5004d758dc/swx63_main.png- screen print it and change one or two details (put in their own image, change the file name on the tab and url to swx58 etc).

Needless to say you can't actually navigate to the URL shown on the Gunboat image. Now, if we could do that...

And wave 8 was probably planned in advance. Unfortunetly, i think it's not gonna happen. The same goes for e-wing rerelase (with fix), which is probably the fix i would like to see the most. ;/

We have 3 releases a year, with about 4+ ships in each. This year they have caught up with Rebels + TFA and done some ships for Rogue One. But I think they will start running out of ships to fill all releases this year, so I think we will see some EU ships slotted in, especially with the Scum releases.

Hi rodent mastermind. I think the red version in your image looks really good - and it's accurate to the old PC games - but it is obviously a bit of a departure from the usual Imperial aesthetic.

Personally, I'd be happy with the red stripes - although if it lost them, keeping a colour scheme close to the Lambda would work well

I think it's a little too red, and maybe that's why they're pushing back swx58, because they forgot the wings and they don't want us to be mad.

What if we Gunboat fans bought up a controlling share of FFG or Asmodee stocks? Then we could not only get the Gunboat released, but then sell the stocks off after the financial success of the Gunboat drives prices through the roof and have enough money to get our own squadron of TIE Fighters. We then use that force to take over the world, force the research and development of deflector shields and hyperdrive and upgrade our squadrons to Gunboats.

Anyone else hope the Gunboat ends up being the Imperial Regen ship? Would shield regen possibly make a ship you load up with expensive ordinance worth it?
