XG-1 "Star Wing" Assault Gunboat Thread

pretty doesn't win wars.

Just ask Helen of Troy.

In that case pretty starts wars.

That explains all the hate for the Punisher.

Not a real war, but the point is made!

I just downloaded tie fighter from GoG (good ol games) just to relive the glory. That game is still awesome. I dont know what "used" stuff u have where u live (craigslist??), but i went on kijiji and bought a logitech 3d joystick that had only been used once for like $10. Apparently thrift stores and value village also carry stuff like this too.

Has anyone here tried to play Tie Fighter from GOG on a mac? I have a Macbook Pro made in 2014. I would also need to find an inexpensive mac-compatible joystick. Would a thrustmaster work? They're $18 on amazon.

I played Tie Fighter on this beauty.

I did too, only the best joystick made ever!!!

Hell of a stick, budget, required a strong arm... This was the 3rd of my sticks to die to XvT:BOP. It lasted the longest and was loved the most.

This joystick gave me my eternal love of Thrustmaster.

Sniff.

Miss it.

Sorry, Allergies playing up. it's *REALLY* dusty in here.

Real men got to love their joystick.

After I was used to it... i played XvT with that stick so much... I sighed when i made a kill, like, as i pulled the trigger. played so much i knew if every shot i made hit or missed before I fired it. So when i fragged a friend, they knew it by a slight sigh i made as I pulled the trigger.

Good times.

Great stick.

Like, I could barely budge it when i first got it, really, REALLY firm stick.

My first stick was a wingman light, didn't last me 3 months I don't suppose.

It was good for EF2000 too.

So why has there never been a new X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter type game?

Because EA sucks.

For a company which loves it's yearly franchises, it's missing a real trick there.

I think it's because it takes a while to learn to play vector based three dimensional movement, and today's gamers (at least the kind that EA wants to target) aren't willing to put in the work to make it fun.

Any wave, any box, any time.

ATR Epic release with two GUNNY

Heroes of the Empire set with GUN, TRN and Avenger

GUN, MIS, TRN and Avenger released as all Imperial wave

GUNBOAT AS A 15 BUCK BLISTER AT ANY TIME

Any of these would be perfect.

Jesus. My pants. Way too many wet dreams. **** you. LOL

I think he actually knows how to spell "that" and was using phonetic spelling to make it more colourful, and represent perfectly fine differences in dialect.

Clealry we need a Bob Commander Black Eight, who will rise up and slay the antichrist of the gunboaters.

Ehm yeah. I know it's "THAT" and not "DAT" ... -.-'

We're on TEH INTERWEB U KNOW.

Oh sorry. :D

P.S. I'm Italian.

Buongiorno Arma Quattro! Your English is way better than my Italian. (would probably have helped if I didn't quit learning after 3 months due to a physical inability to roll my r's.)

Also, great to hear Crabbok's thoughts on the possibility of a Gunboat release (and a bunch of other Star Wars ships):

Such horrible ships.

The future looks grim. There is this five-pointed shape that brings a small glimmer of hope but that's it.

Those yellow tie fighters are even worse than Sabine's.

Why, thank you Sir Gecko.

You don't have to roll the R in Italian. As a matter of fact I don't.

So uhm yeah. I have that terrible French-sounding R. *hides away* -_-'

My university teacher was pretty adamant we had to, and unfortunately he was the one handing out the grades!

A shame, because I enjoyed the lessons, but as a Northern lad with a strong accent, rolling my r's was a real battle!

It's nothing to do with "kids these days" and everything to do with costs. There hasn't been a good flight sim since what? One of the ace combat games ten years ago? So why create a whole new engine and system for a product that may not have a market when you can just reskin an existing game?

Was he/she Italian?

Because what you say sounds kinda strange to me.

Here teachers suffer a lot from the local dialect, which leads to an even completely different pronounce.

No worries, it's just that "dat" is an actual word in MY language (Nederlands), not English (American), and the fact I work with languages regularly, as an interpreter/ translator, I hate the mixture of "int3rw3bz slang/90 % American slang" in general.<_< (I dislike needless butchering of languages) :P

People want them.
