Norman Withers Passive Ability

By Vala_Melkor, in General Discussion

" Once per round, you may spend 1 Sanity in place of 1 Clue ."

From the Ref Guide [Page 13] ...

Norman may use his passive ability anytime he could spend a Clue. For

example, he may use this ability to reroll a die during a test or to pay for

his action ability .

His Action Ability costs 2 Clues , so can Norman spend as many Sanity as he has left, without killing himself , to replace Clue's, i.e. at full health, give up 6 Sanity = 6 Clues?

We've never had to use 6, but he has used 2 Sanity/Clues odd times for his Action Ability ... have we been playing this wrong?

Since his passive ability doesn't state X Sanity for X clues, I have always played it to mean he may spend at most 1. So, in conjunction with his action ability, this means that means he can spend one clue + one sanity to discard a monster on a gate.

Yeah, it's one Sanity per turn spent this way.

Oh dear, the Ref Guide threw us off when we first started to play as it gave his Action Ability with 2 Clues as an example ... so we have been playing it wrong ... forever!!! Still hasn't helped with winning though. :(

Thanks for pointing that out ... Walts
