Yes, you can. "Any Character" includes your Character.
Restoration is a lesser version of Preservation (you can't save a creature from being killed).
Oh , maybe it was a stupid question afterall...
I should never use it to prevent a life from my opponent or spare his followers
So it must be on yourself or on your own followers
