I am excited for regional season, but it's a bit of a bummer that the new "2-per-region" rule is so strict that we actually have fewer than 16 regionals in the US. The layout of the regions is a bit rough on the midwest, too, it appears.

Yeah, I'm all for Regionals being more exclusive than they were last year, but I feel they've compensated a bit too far.

Maybe next year they won't have the weird geography-based regions and can work based on mapping their tourneys to players instead.

Interesting that Regions 1 & 4 only have one regional each. Assuming that there were no other applicants?

For region 1 at least, that seems likely.

I don't think it helps very much when they give a very narrow window for applying for a Regional(and Store Championships was really short also). I could be wrong, but I believe the 2013 regional application time period was a lot longer.
