Store Championship Results

By Rakky Wistol, in X-Wing

Hi,

Yesterday I went to the store championships at Patriot Games in Sheffield, UK.

14 players. I went 2/2. losing to 2nd and 3rd place. I played Chewie + 2 HLC Blues and finishing in 8th place. There were a ton of Shuttles in attendance, 6 out of the 14. Faction split was 9/5 in favour of Imps.

1st

OGP Shuttle, Vader.

Gamma Sq. Concussions, Seismic charge

2x AP

Tur Phenier, PTL.

First post here but if you want to know a bit more about the list I flew to the win you can check out my blog post on the day.

Interesting... The only pilots not represented at all thus far are:

Steele
Kath
Boba
Rhymer
Jendon
Kagi
Salm
Tycho
I'm not surprised by Steele, Rhymer, Jendon, Kagi, or Salm, but the other ones get talked about enough that I figured someone would win with them. I mean, no love for the Scarlet Cowgirl? Or the Fettigator (given I was never impressed with this build)... And I'm really only surprised that Tycho isn't used and Arvel was.
Given, if we take out the single win uses, we can add Ibby, Ten and Jan to that list... which I'm a little surprised to see Ibby there, but no one else really.

Jonus is in there 3 times, in my googledoc though. He's pretty good.

I went 4-1 at my store champies (missing out on first! Still got a pretty range ruler though :D ) running Kath +4 obsidies. My one loss was down to a really bad decision with my TIE's...

Ah, must have missed him being listed.

I was TOTALLY going to bring Major Rhymer and 5 APs to the one in Sterling Heights, MI. That squad was going really well for me, but then I got excited about imperial aces coming soon, so I ran the 2 x Sabers + PTL, 4 Obsidians instead. Looking back, I BET I could have pulled out 1st instead of 2nd if I onlyyyyy had Rhymer's APT to murder a certain Biggs :P

Well, that would have just meant that we would have met up in round 4... And while you might have been able to murder my Biggs... Just think of all the hate Rhymer would be getting from Wedge. He'd be dead before he could shoot twice. Now I've traded Rhymer for Biggs... Not too bad of a trade. And that's assuming that I don't get a single evade roll, which only happens 14% of the time. Plus, I'm pretty sure that's why I have a prototype pilot - to action deny you so you can't even get that TL :)

We'll have to play again some time, I'm thinking of setting up a '14 S1 tourney in April, I'll let you know.

Ah, must have missed him being listed.

He's in Rakky's text list and in the googledocs, but Rakky missed him in his manual summary, is all.

Tycho's time has not come yet...soon.

There was a time when I wasn't doing more than the named pilots who were in the top 10. I'll add Jonus.

Store Championship coming up this Sunday march 30th at La Revanche here in Quebec City, Qc, Canada. I will let you know the outcome

Nice to know I took two 3rd tier ships in a Bomber and Shuttle and still came out top!

The Tier listing is an entertaining, but statistically not very informative, listing.

This doesn't take into account percentages of players using a given type of ship. Last year, the Falcon was on quite a few winning lists. It was also on far greater number of losing lists! If nobody brings a Bomber or Shuttle to a given tournament, then it certainly won't appear in the winner's circle there. If only 1 shows up and it wins, then it's still just 1 more in the tiers.

I haven't had a chance to post from this weekend.

The Wizard's Chest, Denver CO, 12 players attending, 4 rounds - no cut. Sunday 3/23.

1st - Kill Biggs, Vol. 2 - Tie Swarm: Howlrunner + Stealth + PTL, Mauler, Backstabber, Dark Curse, BSP + VI, Academy.

2nd - Tie Swarm - Fel + PTL, Howlrunner + Swarm, 2 x Obsidian, 2 X Academy.

3rd - Unknown - Will update if I can get the list

4th - Biggs + R2-F2, Wedge, Chewy + MF Title

4 Tie Swarms from 12 players. Defeated 1 in the first round, Biggs, 2 x Dagger + Adv, Rookie (that had beaten me in 3 previous store championships) in the 2nd round, the 4th place Biggs/Wedge/Chewy list in the 3rd round and the 2nd place Tie Swarm in the final.

Edit: Add date and missing 6th Tie fighter from winning list.

Edit: I'll say that it would be a very tough thing to quantify because even if you got exact lists from all players you them have to start weighting tournaments for size, etc..

Hopefully we can get the top 16 for all 8 regionals!

I won yesterdays Store Championship at Fantasia in Uppsala, Sweden

It was a 10 player swiss, no elimination round.

The list I flew was the following:

Howlrunner, Stealth Device, Push The Limit,

Academy Pilot,

Academy Pilot,

Tempest Squadron Pilot, Homing Missile

Tempest Squadron Pilot, Homing Missile

Anything else needed to verify?

GZ! I guess the Advanced will beat the A-Wing now? :P

You got that ordnance off any time I guess? ^^ ... Well flown then.

List 1 adds up to 5 TIEs and 84 points, so I'm assuming that there's another Academy TIE, or Dark Curse in there? Was this your list? Edit: also, exact date?

WHAT? Non-Vader Tie Advanced winning a store tourney? Also, TWO of them? I think I need to check outside and make sure winged pigs arn't on my roof....

Compared to the number of squads bringing Tempest Sqd into tournaments, Tempests have one of the highest success ratios of all the ships in the game =^,^+

Luck was with me, managed to k-burn an undamaged BH in the finals causing him to fly off the field in the next turn, and dropped 2 perfect missiles on another, the last one got guided off the field. Only lost 2 academy pilots throughout the tournament.

The Tempests have inspired this list:

Kath + Expert Handling + Flight Instructor

Storm Squadron + Homing Missile

Storm Squadron + Homing Missile

It's kind of defense focused list.

It also inspired an Interceptor list.

Though for the same points:

Kath + EH + FI

Gamma + Homing + Homing

Gamma + Homing + Homing

Or some other combination.

Was lucky enough to pick up a win at our store champs today:

Good Games Miranda, New South Wales, Australia: March 29 - (12 Players). Rebel scum win.

"Bluebacca's"

Chewbacca, Push the limit, Engine upgrade, Falcon title

Blue Sqn, Adv sensors

Blue Sqn, Adv sensors

Rnd 1 win vs:

Vader, Swarm Tactics, Concussion Missiles

Black Sqn, Swarm Tactics

Black Sqn, Swarm Tactics

Black Sqn, Targeting Computer

Black Sqn, Targeting Computer

Round 2 win vs:

Krassis Trelix, Heavy Las Cannon, Gunner

Howlrunner, Swarm Tactics, Stealth Device
