R2D2 and Regaining Shields

By Rison Phoenix, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hello all! I am brand new to this forum, as well as, new to the the Star Wars X-Wing game. I apologize if this question has already been answered in another post. I was wondering when my shields are both gone and I have the R2D2 upgrade, can I regain a shield even if I have lost a hull point or two? My friends and I are working through the rules and this question came up that needs to be addressed. Thanks for any and all clarifications that can be made. :D

yes, you can regain shields even with hull damage :)

Thank you so much for your timely response, that is good to know!!!

I guess I'll mention it because while R2-D2 can restore shields to your fighter the hull damage (dealt damage cards) remain behind. If you have Luke w/ R2D2 and Shield upgrade you could be flying him with two damage cards on him despite having 3 shield tokens.

which expansion pack gives you the shield upgrade card?

I know the Falcon does.

I believe the Millennium Falcon is the only one at the moment, but if I remember correctly it's going to be in Imperial Aces as well.

I believe that is correct, according to the X-Wing miniatures wiki.

R2D2 will give you back one shield for each green maneuver you do. So each turn you can recover 1 shield if you do a green.

If you move over an obstacle, the shield regenerates BEFORE you take any damage from the obstacle.

If you move over a proximity mine the shield regenerates AFTER you take any damage from the mine.

Those are the only two special things to know about R2D2's ability.

Missed one!

If you collide with a ship with Anti-Pursuit Lasers, the shield regenerates AT THE SAME TIME you take any damage from the APL.

In this case, the fleet with Initiative decides the triggering order.

Not exactly. The player with initiative has to resolve his effect first.

Edit:

Rulebookpage 16, last sentence:

If multiple abilities resolve at the same time, the player with initiative resolves his abilities first.

Thanks for the fix!
