Critical hits and shields

By black1705f, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I know the rules say that when evading damage you evade regular hits first then critical hits which makes it more likely that you'll sustain a critical hit. Does this same method work with damage to shields.

For example I have one remaining shield and I suffer one regular damage and one critical damage. Does my remaining shield counter go towards the regular damage first which lets the critical damage go through to my hull?

I figured it would follow the same rules as evading damage, but I could not find anything specifically mentioning shields in the rules or FAQs. If I just missed the obvious I apologize in advance.

You are correct. I don't have the rule book with me to quote the page #. But the shield would take the normal damage.

Page 13, "Deal Damage", and/or page 16, "Suffering Damage". Both say you have to suffer normal damage before suffering critical.

Yeah, finally found it covered on page 16:

"When a ship suffers damage or critical damage, it suffers them one at a time following these steps. The ship must suffer all normal damage before suffering any critical damage."
