My pegs are falling apart

By Vagrant, in X-Wing

And somehow I haven't heard of this issue raised here before.. Strange.

Anyone know if there's some alternatives out there available to buy, or, if FFG supplies any extras?

I hope this doesn't mean I'll have to actually make some myself. I'd rather avoid that since my tools are on the wrong side of the planet.

The tips of my pegs are getting pretty busted up, too.

I bought a set of four bases + pegs from my FLGS, which were apparently made by WizKids for Star Trek: Attack Wing. They work pretty well and look really cool (they're blue plastic), but some of the pegs are kinda...meh. Too tight a fit.

But really, if mine got to the point where they didn't work anymore, I'd just email FFG. They'll replace pretty much whatever, up to and including ships, if it's defective (or so I've heard).

I have a real problem with the small pegs cracking at the bottom as well. I would guess that ffg or some or someone else would put some for sale soon.

I'd think FFG will eventually be putting up replacement pegs/stands for sale for a "low low low" price ;) .

Otherwise I'm guessing their assumption is that people will keep buying expansions and keep getting more pegs/holders.

If you contact customer service they are good about getting replacements out to you.

The biggest problem I've had is the sockets cracking if the peg inside gets wiggled around too much. The socket gets too loose and won't hold the peg securely.

A solution I've found is to remove the peg while pushing it at an angle so the crack in the socket opens up. Then put a drop of super glue on the crack, and quickly rotate the piece with one hand while clamping your fingers around the bottom, spreading the super glue all around the base of the piece and squeezing the crack shut. That seems to restore the firmness to the socket and allow it to hold the pegs securely again. You get a bit of glue on your fingers, but it seems to work pretty well.

I just got done fixing all my peg problems. I ripped out the connection at the base of all my ships and replaced them with rare earth magnets. Then I glued all the pegs together, and to the base so I don't have to take them apart anymore, and I glued a small nut on the top. Just set the ship on the base and your ready. Works great. I don't know how to post picks here or I would attach them. But I recommend it. Makes for faster set up time also.

As said I'd contact customer service, they should hook you up with some extra pegs with no issues.

Someone tried to replace 20+ pegs but was knocked back.

Maybe one or two but not a whole bunch.

I have just one that has split open. I will just use one peg to have the ship on instead of two. Until I'm down to half the amount pegs I won't worry.

My stuff hardly gets played. I think it might be the air bubbles in the plastic peg that is a bit weak.

I hope they do bring out spares for pegs and bases. (cheap of course.)

Better yet, I'd rather seen them just sell new colored pegs and bases. I mean, if they are going to sell replacements, why not jazz it up a little.

A dark transparent color like a deep blue/black/grey would be nice since they would blend into most starfields pretty well.

What are these rare earth magnets, do you get them online?

Here's how I've been repairing mine: http://goblinhall.com/2013/06/09/base-improvements-big-small/

I don't take the ships off the pegs and bases for storage, so that reduces wear and tear. And I only use one peg on every ship that doesn't need 2, and so I have close to 100 spare pegs for future need.

Yeah just Google it, there's tons of places that sell them online. Typically you want the disc ones, and the smaller the better. A packages of 150 normally runs about $10 or so.

Super cheap at DX.com

I just wanted to commiserate now that the pegs for my large ships are starting to crack at the bottoms as well. Appears to me that it's a design flaw. It's a lot of stress on a very small and brittle part.

Same thing here; i've taken the magnet path to fix those, but for small bases you have to be really careful to to get them standing straght. I've tried to use a ball bearing on the ship's end with the magnet on top of the pole, but its way too "loose".

I've experienced cracks on the small peg bottoms, large peg bottoms, peg attached to ship and in all cases I used super glue to fix the problem. I bought the super glue with the brush because it makes application so much easier.

????? Super glues don't come with brushes, the first use would glue the bristles together.

Some plastic glues have brush applicators, but those only work for styrene based plastics an fi think the bases and flight poles are acrylic.

I think Litko makes pegs you can order.

Crazy Glue makes a small bottle with an applicator brush. I have one sitting in front of me right now. I've been using it for three months or so, and its just now starting to gum up.

I would post a pic, but I'm at work:

You should checkout the magnetic adapters from NinjaMagic.....I thinking about pulling off the plastic bit on the ships and replacing mine
