So, I was answering someone else's question about whether the Flight Instructor will ever see any use, and that lead me to the Tie Phantom.

Now, not knowing what Cloak does yet, a 4/2/2/2 is the very definition of a Glass Cannon (whereas the Interceptor is more a Fragile Speedster).
My instinct is to augment its defenses as much as possible, as its natural HLC-esque damage is good enough without supplement.

Therefore, I came up with the following list:

• Do you think that the re-rolls from the Flight Instructor will be significant enough to warrant a Stealth Device rather than a Sensor Jammer?
• Should I trade one of them out for Carnor Jax, to get full use out of said Sensor Jammer?
• Do we actually know what Cloak does, and I'm simply behind on my spoileredness?

I think it could work well. I am looking at using Gunner and FCS as I am guessing de-cloaking will use my action so shoot, potentially miss. TL and shoot again.

I wonder how often Gunner will actually be useful when you've got a naked 4 dice...

That is the big question on that build. I would potentially consider a hull upgrade useful and drop gunner and FCS, maybe use Flight Instructor, as you suggest.

I gotta say that Flight Instructor is only useful with the whole lower than 2 pilot skill criteria, so it doesn't seem to be worth the cost to me. The versatility of the cheaper Recon Specialist that's supplied with the ship seems to be the way to go, if you ask me.

Yes, supplant Carnor Jax into your list as he will make that Sensor Jammer ridiculously useful, and find a way to make him tougher to hit, since his ability is no good to you if he's dead. You'll have enough to give him up to 8 points of upgrades, so I'd go with a Stealth Device, Shield Upgrade and Veteran Instincts (because why not bring him to PS 10?).

First off, it's 2 or lower, not lower than 2.

That being said, FI doesn't require an action to activate, and activates on every attack, unlike Focus tokens (which do, and only activate for 1 attack per token). I'd need to run the odds to find the passing point, but he'll eventually dodge more damage than a Focus would.

Carnor Jax and Dark Curse with one of those Sensor Jammed Phantoms would be a nightmare.

My concern with anything that requires an action is the probability that de-cloaking will cost an action. So anything that gives an edge and requires no action could be of great benefit.

Navigator may even be useful on the Phantom.

Imo, Sensor Jammer is VERY useful. It is very difficult to take damage when the fight is down to a k turn war. Of course, it's getting to that point that's the hard part. It is also good against missike heavy lists, unless they can give everything focus, you'll be taking quite a bit less damage
