Cantina Fare and Prices?

By The Mick, in Game Masters

Hi all,

is there a list of all known drinks and dishes in the SW universe somewhere? Even better, how much they would cost?

Going through Wookieepedia isn't as easy as I'd like it to be.

Here's a little article that I put in my blog.

Potent Potables in the Star Wars Universe

Detailed here are some of the alcoholic beverages known to exist in the Star Wars universe. Using them in a game can help establish the atmosphere of the setting, and different preferences can reflect the characters of the PCs or NPCs who choose them.

When it comes to brewed beverages, there are plenty of options. Potwa beer is a heady concoction prepared by Gamorreans, one that is sure to pack a punch. Tozz is a product of Elrood Sector, one that is only slightly more refined than potwa beer. For those who have more refined palates, Alderaanian ale is a good option--if one can find it, given that it is no longer in production.

Many different planets have their own takes on wine. These can be especially diverse, given that a variety of different local fruits can be used.

When it comes to distilled spirits, Corellian whiskeyis popular throughout the galaxy. There are many different brands and varities, but one of the best is Whyren's Reserve. Those who like their booze to pack a punch, and aren't very particular as to flavor, might go for vacuum-distilled jet-juice. A flask of this is guaranteed to warm up a person's innards.

Mixed drinks are also a popular option. Talmog, for example, is made from Lyme's rose juice and spiced ethanol, usually served with ice.

Comprehensive? No, but you might want to give the Fragments from the Rim book a look. They've got a chapter on culture, food, beverages and stuff in there.

I think that the Mos Eisley Sourcebook (also from West End Games) also had some prices for cantina food and drinks.

I wouldn't worry about prices, honestly. Unless your players are trying to pinch every penny, just write off about fifty credits for "incidentals" per stopover and leave it at that. Scheming over drinks is more for dramatic effect than actual nourishment requirements.

Sure, but if you're in a cantina and it makes sense to roleplay out each purchase (maybe your character has 27 credits in their pocket), it's nice to know "5 credits is a usual drink price", "10 credits is a fancy cocktail".

I wouldn't get much more complex than that, though, for sure.

Concur.

If I go into a nightclub in the US, I'm paying somewhere between $5-$7 for a cocktail, a beer will probably run me $3-$4.

Oddly, an AR15 sporting rifle will cost me around $900 (much like a Blaster Rifle).

7 bucks for a cocktail? Good heavens, man! I wish I paid that kind of money. Around my neck of the woods, my hard booze starts at 10!
