How about a spirit version of Boromir?
How about a spirit version of Boromir?
First off, we do not need any more spirit heroes with 3 attack. Nor do we need to put the best defender in the game as spirit, which is exactly what he would be with this ability (especially with Burning Brand attached). Plus you are combining his role as the best defender plus a good attacker by readying him. I'm not buying it. Very interesting idea but needs some balancing.
Maybe something like this:
"Response: When the first enemy is revealed from the encounter deck, cancel it's when revealed effect and engage him. Deal him one shadow card. This enemy cannot be defended except by Boromir
Response: When an enemy engage you, raise your threat by 1. Boromir does not exhaust do defend against this enemy this turn".
Really verbose, but seems feeting for a spirit version of him.
Also, Spirit is a good sphere for defense and has some of the best buff in it (Against the Shadow, Hasty Stroke, Light the Beacon). Lore is more for healing, Tactics for counterattack and Leadership for pure defense buff. I don't see problem with another 3 attack-good defender in Spirit. It just means it's a warior with strong will.

Burning Brand - Lore only.
Burning Brand - Lore only.
Say hello to my friend - Song of Wisdom.
Edited by alogosYea. Considering the only way he would ever take any damage from an attack is via shadow, getting Song of Wisdom and Burning Brand on him is all you need to make him a great defender. You can use up all of the restricted slots for boosting his attack.
It is limit once per round so that's not entirely true, but I agree it's really powerfull. Like the art and idea though!
Simply idea, how nobody hasnt still thought about it?:
The return of Arwen to Rivendel will change the plans of Elrond and the fate of the Middle-Earth ^^. Return to make a new hand can change also the end of a game.
Edited by Mndela1 and a card for this?
Well... maybe worth it... hard to decide.
Good with Gandalf Hero and Hidden Cache.
It is too overpowered. Well, it could be 0 cost but then, limited to players with no more than 3 cards in his hands.
A little bit of Ent stuff.
It could be a good idea. Maybe limit the effect to one per player.
And next card Tauriel ally ^^
This card would be super powerful in early game when you cannot play a lot of cards, especially in Lore. You can basically pile a bit of resources in a few rounds.
Edited by EldainornAnd what would prevent me from using this action on the last card I intend to play this round?
It should read Planning Action indeed, but I like the cards and especially the stats. I think it would be cool to have a defender in Silvan other then Elrond or Elrohir.
And what would prevent me from using this action on the last card I intend to play this round?
You can't trigger the action if you have played a card on the same round. Like Opressive Forest... if it is revealed in quest phase and you have played a card, you cant play anymore cards till next round.
You can. Look:
I play card 1 for 2 resources, then I play card 2 for 1 resources, then I trigger the action of your hero, reduce the cost of the card and play card 3 for 0 resources without the need to play anything else this round.
It could certainly be worded a bit better. The last sentence doesn't even have a subject, and it actually allows you to play more cards, since it says "then, cannot play more than 1 card this round", after you have used the ability, so it lets you play 1 more card. I would write it like this : "Action: Lower the cost of the next card you play by 2. Then, you cannot play cards until the end of the round."

But then, you can play cards before it. The idea is to play only 1 card 1 round when you trigger Thranduil. No more than 1 card.
Then you add as a final clause the following: "You cannot play more cards this round", or something like that. And make the ability itself target the first card you play this round, since you'll only play one card anyway, and that has to be the first card. If you didn't play anything in the planning phase and then a treachery appears and you Test of Will it, that will be the first card you play that round, and the only one.
Well ok. sounds good
You can't prevent players from playing some cards before triggering the action unless you add a specific requirement or ouside-of-action text to the card.
If the intent is to limit the number of cards played to 1, then the text should target the first card you play that round, and then specify that you cannot play any further cards. As a first shot, no doubt riddled with problems:
Lower the cost of the first card you play this round by 2. You may only play one card this round.
Does this have the required effect?
Edit: although I see that Gizlivadi has already suggested this rewording...nevermind

They are Noldor though, but you probably know that and I'm misreading. I suppose we haven't got very strong attackers or defenders in Silvan because they're supposed to rely on entering/leaving play effects and, rather crucially, Celeborn's boost - whereas Noldor overall seem to have higher stats and are meant to stand their ground throughout the game. (Defender of the Naith reaches 3 def with the boost and has a readying effect, though.) At least, that's how I play them. The Lorien Cloak from Celebrimbor's Secret was perfect for elvish support decks for this reason, and I hope for more Noldor support in Angmar Awakened. Already quite excited about the new victory display strategy.
