Tantive IV info

Anyone have any guesses as to what the icon is with what looks like troops is for? I'm don't mean the crew icon, the other two in this pic.

Also did anyone notice that the movement dial looks enormous? Big ship, big dial ... I guess.

Now that you point it out, that is a big dial.

Is anyone else thinking about a squad with

Chewbacca + Falcon + Chewbacca + CP30 (50)

That would be a pretty hard ship to kill! (Also i'm not sure if you can have Chewbacca with Chewbacca crew , if someone could tell me if this is legal or not it would help me a lot)

No, only one unique on the table per side.

if you read the text it says they are crew cards and some are rare representing better crew.

The two ship sections have separate points costs. Tournament rules go by points destroyed. So I guess the sections need to be destroyed separately while each of them counts towards victory.

The rulebook limits the TL action to range 1-3. I suppose special rules increase it to range 5.

There are a lot of energy counters in the picture. I guess each weapon supplies the two energy tokens required to shoot it.

Between the two ship cards and the rule card there is another card. What is it?

Like the YT the primary weapon has the 360° icon. Hardpoint weapons seem to be broadside only. That results in huge blind spots fore and aft.

Cannot see any stress tokens. Does the ship ignore stress?

Gunner shoots a very powerful weapon. Needs to be used with the very last attack you perform. Without focus action Luke seems interesting.

Edit:

If the ship can shoot all weapons in a round, a weapons engineer is worth considering.

No, only one unique on the table per side.

Only one unique in each ship. But if its the same unique in the same ship I see it as buying another skill for the same person not having two individual Chewbaccas.

I would agree you can't have Chewbacca in the Falcon and on another ship.

No, only one unique on the table per side.

Only one unique in each ship.

Only one unique per player or team.

Rulebook page 18:

A player cannot field two or more cards that share the same unique name. In a team game, this limit applies to each team.

The new crew one is the Team icon and there's mention of a Reinforce action. Maybe you can shuffle specialists from one end to the other. Any speculation on the new icons on their Action Bars? It also looks like it has its own damage deck for each end.

No need to speculate, the icons on the action bars are Coordinate, Recover and Reinforce actions.

The way secondary lasers work, mades me think that range penalties for CR90's primary weapons are increased at range 4-5. Something like shots at range 4: +2 defense dice bonus to target... And shots at range 5: +3 defense dice bonus to target.

OK, Coordinate, Recover and Reinforce. Any idea what each one does?

I'm glad the big ships allow you to equip Companion Cubes. I miss my old one...

Coordinate grants a free action to nearby ships.

Recover recharges shields.

Reinforce gives a evade result to individual sections vs all attacks.

Yes I agree with you.

However I don't play tournaments, only for fun, so I'd allow it.

well now for some practical thoughts... I hope the range 5 ruler breaks down into smaller parts otherwise storage is going to be a pain in the neck!! also how thick do you all think the CR-90 is? I am already planning my storage solutions, however am going to wait for the wave 4 to drop.. I currently use a single shield bag to store my fleet in but plan on going to TWO shield bags, one for each faction. also was just thinking what a loss it would be if you flew the CR-90 off the board..lol DOH!!!! also probably been mentioned but how long before we get the Sundered Heart ? just thinking all it would take is a new "Aft Section" lol

Has anyone mentioned the fact that it appears to have 2 SIDE firing arcs as it's primary arc?

I can't see the aft card, the link just brings up the fore.

But I think it is pretty interesting that the main guns can only be fired at range three or higher and that you need an upgrade (or fighter escorts) to deal with close in threats.

I'm pretty sure you're not going to just field the Tantive in an epic game!

I'd say the whole thing goes down, but with reinforce and shield regen actions and with crew like chewie and the new r2 and other things we have yet to see I imagine, or at least hope, that it would take some effort to finish off, especially with rebel fighters harrying you the whole time.

I kinda like that idea, I mean if you blow 1/2 the ship up....you'd think the whole thing would go down, but that kinda makes that aft section really seem weak? Just get a bunch of bombers on it's rear and blast it with torpedos...

Sounds about right to me. Reminds me of playing the old pc games, and it makes sense logically.

I really don't see a 90 pt piece being able to be taken down by just one hull section. I think part of that is why it is separate and has separate point costs.

Now, taking out one hull section is sure to cripple it badly. I presume you lose the stats and upgrades related to said section. Which for the Corvette is interesting. Taking out the aft section pretty much eliminates the Corvette's energy, which is key to powering a lot of it's weapons. But if you take out the fore section, it is pretty much toothless. It will be interesting to see the full rules, and see if there are any other effects.

It does indeed look like the range ruler consists of two separate pieces, there looks like an overlap in the picture.

Has anyone mentioned the fact that it appears to have 2 SIDE firing arcs as it's primary arc?

Yep! But since the primary weapon itself is a turret weapon, those are likely for the secondary weapon upgrades (since secondary weapons can only be fired from the primary arc).

Also, this possibly means that "Backstabber" could get his bonus in a head-to-head pass!

I'll bet the dial is so large because it has to show a maneuver and energy cost. Just a theory.

I think I'm going to have to go back into the X-Wing novels, do some research, and see if I can get a plausible writeup together for the Redemption (or Requiem depending on who you're talking to) scenario. It might not translate properly into game mechanics.

I noticed that there are several "chase" upgrade cards in the Tantive IV expansion. C3PO and R2D2 could be very useful for the YT-1300. That's going to raise some frustration amongst those who don't want to shell out for this expensive ship. We'll have to see if Princess Leia also falls in this category or not.

No, this is a basic rule of the game, not a tournament issue. It's cheating otherwise...

Hey guys, I know it's been said before, but for the life of me don't remember where it was but...

What is the scale on this? I remember them saying it wasn't 1/270 scale like the fighters.

And, for that matter, the scale on the transport.

They haven't stated the exact scale.

Looks at new multipart ship stats... Looks at squadron builder... Cries.

It does look painful, I'm thinking you still treat them like individual cards, it'll just be up to the user to add both sections...
