viable?...
Or would you rather:
Dutch + ion+ R5
Garven
Rookie
Blue + FCS
Be aware that anything other than Academy Pilots will move, and more importantly take actions, after you. If may be hard to get the Y-Wing's torpedoes off, and the B-Wing's short-range maneuverability is a bit wasted since you can't use Barrel Roll to react to your opponent's maneuvers.
It is VERY tough, though, with great firepower. My only recommendation would be to pull the Proton Torpedoes and replace two Fire-Control Systems with Sensor Jammers. Fly those two B-Wings in front, it'll help with your low Agility.
Don't try to be fancy, just try to keep every ship firing every turn, even if it's at different targets. It shouldn't be hard with how well B-Wings can maneuver. The squadron is a sledgehammer, so use it like one.
With the 1st list I would say no. There is no defense there and a TIE swarm would chew right through that list.
Gold Squadron w/ ion x2
Blue Squadron w/ ion and fire control system x2
annoy your enemies to death

The Defense is Hull and Shields rather than agility. The question is it enough. 1 Agility means that even TIEs at range 2 will be consistently hitting you.
Your Low Agility and PS will make you ships vulnerable to concentrated fire. But if you can do enough damage early enough I think you will do well
The best defense is for the other guy to already be dead.
Hmm valid points. I was hoping with the protons that i could take out a tie maybe two on the alpha strike. then I may be ingood shape?

This list has a LOT of strength to it.
Garven/Dutch being in a list together is a HUGE problem for your opponents. They can feed each other, and they can feed the rest of your teammates.
Heck, with FCS on your Blue, you get 7 actions spread across your 4 ships every turn. In a 4 ship build, that's a huge advantage.
"Dutch" and Garven are Priority 1 for your opponents to kill, and of these, "Dutch" is more likely to be focused down (having only 1 agility will do that). As such, giving him an R5 is a great move!
Meanwhile, 3 ships with 3 attack, and a ship with an Ion Turret and 2 attack, is definitely enough firepower to do you well.

My point about the Proton Torpedoes is that, because your will generally be taking actions first, it will be difficult to both Target Lock and fire on the same turn, necessary for an alpha strike.
Enemy ships that you Target Lock at Range 3 could be at Range 1 or out of arc by the time you fire, while enemy ships that end up at Range 2-3 and in your arc could easily have been out of range when you had your chance to Target Lock, making an alpha strike difficult. That's why I recommend dropping them.
You're tough, and the list that most takes advantage of your low Agility (TIE/LN swarm) will also probably cede initiative to you, letting you make best use of your Barrel Rolls and destroy at least one ship and Ion another before they can fire.
id say so. low PS but lots of firepower. anything with 3 B-Wings is going to be pretty competitive imo.

Ya i was looking to do a 3B squad but didnt want the other ship to be an Awing or a bland rookie pilot or naked red.
Im still kinda liking the 3BFCSwith gold proton/ion but what about the list below. It solves a bit of the PS dilema while giving up three hitpoints...i dunno though. the reason i originally went with http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/49645 was to blast a tie swarm (usually a few ships at PS1) early. or should I just stick with the garven/dutch build that a few commented on earlier? Im trying to get a list that will be competitive..one that i can practice with before store championships.

not necessarily. With the three B-Wings, you have a good chance to eliminate Howlrunner in the first or second turn, so the overall hit average from the TIEs drops significantly. Not saying the rest of the game would be EASY, but definitely possible. FCS is really helpful in that you can be target locked after an attack and therefore be target locked and focused or target locked after a K-turn on a regular basis
1st round: ran the Dutch/garven list. up against Ib and two daggers ...very ugly for him
Round 2 to come...

Daggers with Adv Sensors scare me a lot more than Daggers with FCS.
Round 2: up against vader night beast BH and an academy
2-0
Ended up 30 (barely beat a 7 tie swarm)
I may go:
Garven
gold + Ion
Dagger+ AS
Blue + FCS
Little more bulk but i sure liked passing around a TL
How about
Dutch, ion turret
3x dagger pilots
