Fun Lt Pack for the Heroes and the Overlord?

By Fused666, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hey guys,

About to purchase a LT Pack for our next campaign (which will be the LOR Campaign with LoW stuff thrown in) and was wondering which one you guys recommend in terms of being something both the Overlord and the Heroes will enjoy in the game?

The reason I ask was because I read up on the Zachareth pack and he seemed extremely powerful and something the Overlord would love but would be no fun for the Heroes (shop item denial -> We (as heroes) find shopping and getting new items a good fun part of the game).

I was thinking maybe Alric or Belthir? Would quite like Valyndra (if only for the model)

What do you guys think?

No plot deck is fun for the heroes :P Obviously some are less fun than others, Zach definitely being down there on the not so fun with that shop denial plot card.

Alric Merric is cool though i think, can dish out some nice damage and being able to get overlord cards back into your hand is a nice touch.

If you're looking for something that is "fun" for both sides, I'd recommend Merick: He has a few mechanics that allow the heroes to make a choice, which adds gameplay to their side of the table.

Examples:

Dark Pact: They pick a hero that can choose to reduce incoming damage by giving the OL more threat.

The Dark Mark: They pick a hero that the OL can choose to have damage redirected to from other heroes.

I was going to recommend Merick, as well!

I agree with the Merick recommendation: the aforementioned plot cards add a little drama.
Alric is pretty straight forward monster buffing.
The Raythen pack allows to move the search tokens around and away from the heroes, which could be fun too (and you get a new hero.) It offers little to no attack/defense buffing in comparison to other plot decks, though.

I am with you on Merrick as well. Cabal is also pretty awesome with little Threat cost.

I just find him fun to play!
