Mainly a selfish rant.
I'm sure other people have wondered why Salm and Dutch can't take medal upgrades. Perhaps they felt it would have been too much of an advantage at launch having more ships with that upfrade than Imperials?
I wouldn't mind a series of "titles" Red-Green-Grey-Gold-Blue squadron leaders which grant that medal and some kind of effect appropriate to the fighter group.
Y-Wing Elites?
I'd make the perfectly justifiable excuse that "The game was young and they made a mistake about that sort of thing in Wave 1" but it's been completely violated by the fact they did the exact same thing to the Lambda Shuttle in Wave 3. I'm just going off the cuff and thinking that they were not ships that were designed to pull off especially fancy maneuvers, no matter how good the pilots happen to be.
That said, I do like your idea of designated leaders of squadrons, and I'd be kinda cool with using that as a sort of mechanic in the future to grant a minor benefit.
Its a shame, Horton with PTL, R2 and a couple of advPTs could be pretty effective.....

The Y-Wing is one of my favourite ships from the SW universe - that, coupled with the awesome idea you just had for a range of titles means I'd really love to see something like this released. Buffs for nearby ships of the same class would add a little extra something, methinks ^-^
Y-wings are still awesome without elite upgrades, Dutch has a great ability, Horton is pretty good too. But I would accept them getting an EPT rather than a generic "crew" slot added which to me is just naff. I don't want to see Y-Wings with "saboteurs" or "co-pilots" but it will probably happen.
personally i think y's need aces more than any other rebel ship but itll probably be x wing but who knows there may never be a rebel aces or imperial huge ships.
The rebel transport is kind of a aces pack for the x-wing.
The A-wing, Y-wing and Tie Advanced all need some love tbh. None of them see.much game in tourney lists
why not just allow Ys to have the blaster turret...
Surely they are allowed to have the blaster turret. And Recon specialist with it wouldbe a good reason for the crew slot.

....is why the Lambda will not be getting an elite pilot talent...
aww, you don't like the idea of AdvS, Expert Handling on a OGP?
BR backwards, stop. 1 forward, BR backwards. rinse and repeat. The 1 forward is essentially 3 forward, but the two barrel rolls are essentially 1.5 back each. So you should be able to pretty much stay in place for forever. If desired. Assuming you don't get blocked (on the 1 forward) and can actually complete the BR.
Honestly it probably wouldn't be worth it. Set aside the fact that Y-Wings can already carry a lot of stuff. If you load them up with more points and only one agility, plus five hull points worth of critable hull, I'm going to be even more inclined to rip them apart as early as possible. Range 1 Interceptors are a Y-Wing's worst nightmare. That and Focused concussion missiles or Advanced Proton Torpedoes (both of which are favorites of mine).

Can't do that. The BR and the stop are both stressing maneuvers for the shuttle. They can't be back to back.

Good call, forgot about the stress part of BR. So you'd end up doing 1.5 forward on average (1 forward which is 3, barrel roll back 1.5)... Which is the same as forward+stall every other turn... And I might add the Firespray can do that currently. It doesn't seem too broken to me.

There are at least three flaws in that logic, not all elite talents are "fancy maneuvers", the ones like daredevil and expert handling already have penalties for doing them without the right actions, and the fact that if non-combat ships like the yt and hwk can do them an actual fighter-bomber should be able to just fine, especially since both of the newer, more dedicated bombers can.
Barrel rolling lambda shuttles!!!
I could see that. It'd be like watching a whale do that 'leap out of the water, half roll and splash down on its back thing', bt it could work. Anyone watching could probably go for a smoke-break, come back and still not have missed much.
"This is your pilot uhhhhhhhhhh...if you look out your window uhhhhhhhhhh...you'll notice we are now uhhhhhhhhhh....half way through the barrel rollthankyou."
"I know. The blood';s been rushing to my brain for three minutes and I think my head's full"
I see the Astromechs and Flechette Torpedoes that are coming in the Transport and E-wing pack, and am very excited to play Y-wings. Dutch loves R7-T1, and Salm with Flechette Torpedoes will be nasty at Range 3.
Sure, I would like to see some of the variants in a Y-wing Aces pack, as well as more options for the Astromech, Turret, and Torpedo slots.

"This is your pilot speaking; if you look out over the left wing, you'll see....the burning remains of the right wing. On a related note, if any of you buggers in the TIEs out there are on this channel and wish to help, that'd be most welcome."

More specifically, a Barrel-Rolling Captain Kagi who forces you to Target Lock him and can negate the Target Lock when he moves.
...yeah, that was a balancing thing.
Also, Adrenaline Rush potentially means 2 shots in a row. Woo!
well the gold leader was no good leader at all he freaked out after one of his gold team meber died i guess thats why they dont have those veteran medal things
Pretty much every pilot at the Battle of Yavin were the best in Rebels aresenal. The Y-Wing pilots were some of the most veteran, because newer pilots were dumped in X-Wings.
I suppose game play and balancing takes precedent. Sucks to see the veterans in the lore treated like unwanted turds for the most part.
I would like to point out that Horton Salm was not part of the Battle of Yavin. He was leader of Gray Squadron on the Assault on the Second Death Star. He also survived that. And to the best of our knowledge, was the only Y wing pilot to survive that (He was the only one to respond to Lando's all fighters form up on me command... given that could just mean the other Y wings were not capable of breaking off and abiding). He was a colonel at that time, and goes on to be a general... A career setup by his flying skills. Seems like he's an elite pilot to me...
And Salm also specifically shunned newer fighter models according to wookiepedia. He could have transferred over to a X or B wing at any time but preferred old reliable y-wings because he knew them inside and out and mastered them completely. If anyone deserves an Elite talent it's that guy.

There is a card called "Squad Leader" of course it is an elite upgrade so no Y-wings can ever get it.
