The Bounty Hunter Code

By mouthymerc, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Much like The Jedi Path and the Book of Sith, there is now The Bounty Hunter Code from the same people. It seems to only be available in the vault edition, though. The other two have vault editions, but the books were also released on their own. Could be a valuable resource much like the other two for some.

I've been wondering about those books. They look like they'd be cool items to have, but I'm not that clear on the actual content.

The Jedi and Sith books are pretty solid. They cover some of the basics in training, lore, planets, objects, and stuff for each and can be useful if you were trying to make a campaign or character revolving around force users. Nothing real in-depth, but still useful for sparking ideas and point you in the right directions on Wookiepedia.

The Bounty Hunter one in my opinion is a kind of more generic, and gives some neat insights into some general things about the galaxy and official bounty hunting (for the Imperials), but in my opinion, it isn't as nice of an introduction to the different aspects of bounty hunting compared to the other books.

I've had my eye on this one for a while, but I'm still holding off in hopes that they release it in a stand-alone edition. I read the sith and jedi handbooks, and both were fantastic.

I suspect that there will eventually be a non-vault edition as well.

I found the Jedi Path book to be extremely informative and helpful, particularly for playing a Jedi PC during a New Jedi Order game (Alwyn got a copy handed directly to him from Master Skywalker, part of a small reprint run that Luke had ordered). It made for a neat prop at the table, with my PC reading during any (rare) moments of downtime the group had.

The Book of the Sith... not so much, but then it'd been years since I'd run a campaign where the Sith were a major factor as opposed to being a purely behind-the-scene element.

As for this one... not sure. I'm not big on bounty hunters myself, and particularly not a fan of Boba Fett, so the appeal is kinda limited.

Boba who?

Cad Bane FTW

I donno, I haven't read it but bounty hunting seems something that can really be summerised quite easily. Hence there is very little one can say about bounties about:

Layout of the bounty hunters guild in terms of ranking.

Internal organisation of the guilds (both imperial and hutt systems), basically the guys who handle the paper work. Imperial legal bounty hunting organisation would be extremely dry I imagine, underworld bounty hunting is slightly more interesting, but again incredably dry since it's basically the Hutts followers acting as stewards, with the Hutt occationally going "I want him dead/alive, heres money."

Some praise about Boba Feat (Boba? Where? I never found him badass. Just his armour was cool)

Talk about tools of the trade of the bounty hunter (Could be pretty interesting to throw out some numbers, easpically since they will have all sorts of anti-personal gear, and gear that can incapaisate people.)

Really, I wouldn't buy a book for that since I'm sure I could write the book myself. Very dry, but bounty hunting is a incredably dry once you start dealing with paperwork. Most people who play as bounty hunters just want to cart people off over their shoulder or an excuse to bare all kinds of arms. XD
