Dangerous Covenants off the boat and SHIPPING!!

By polyheadronman, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Lots. Seriously. Everything from speeders to capital ships... so I can't be that specific without knowing what you're looking for.

I;m most interested in the capital ships, but only slightly less so in the fighters. Anything completely new or at least not statted in previous Star Wars RPG systems?

I can't say in terms of previous iterations of Star Wars RPGs, as I have very little of those at my fingertips. In terms of fighters, there's the A-7 Hunter Interceptor, and the Preybird-class Starfighter. The Capital ships are Rendili Stardrive Neutron Star-class Bulk Cruiser, the Keldabe-class Battleship, and the smaller Starbolt Assault Carrier. The latter one appears to be a new design not previously known, but it has an interesting backstory.

The A-7s were in Saga and the Preybird was in WEG's D6 system. Still nice to see them again though. The Neutron Stars were statted in both D6 and Saga, and the Keldabe's in Saga. Its nice to see them and the Starbolt but I'm disappointed there weren't any corvettes or frigates included since up until now EOTE has focused on the smaller capital ships rather than the big ones. Neutron Stars are right on the line between being a Cruiser class or a Heavy Cruiser class while the Keldabe is either a Heavy Cruiser or Star Destroyer class vessel. I was hoping for some more older frigates and corvettes, or newly created ones but oh well, Maybe the Starbolt is small enough to be a frigate..

The Starbolt is classified as a frigate in the book. It's Silhouette 6... which puts it comparable to a Nebulon-B in size.

One of the ships in the freighter section is size 5... so it's more Corvette sized, and frankly feels like one too.

Cool I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this in other topics but the first ship I commanded in an RPG was a Nebulon-B and a lot of ancestors or relatives of mine have served on frigates so I have a soft spot for them.

Which freighter is silhouette 5?

Which freighter is silhouette 5?

If I had to guess, I'd say the YZ-775.

Yeah that is what I am assuming. I have been laying it on thick to my GM that, that is the ship I want to upgrade to if we start working for the rebels. Being able to have a fighter bay on Board would be awesome.

There is a version of the YZ-775 in the catalogue I released the other week, I cannot know if I even got close to it, but I do know that I probably gave it way too many CHPs. Although I do think that I did end on a silhouette 5 in the end, after much deliberation.

Yeah it's size is right on the edge of silhouettes. And yeah I took a look at yours and we were planning on running with it, but with an official one out that just makes life happier.

That's fair :)

This would be the correct guess. Of the four freighter/transports listed, this is the largest. Although it's interesting of these four ships, only one is truly a freighter, the rest of them are classified as either a medium transport (the YZ-775), and the other two are Light Assault Transports.

Any chance you can tell us what it(the 775) is armed with. Yeah they have so many names in the star wars verse for "Ship that moves crap from point A to Point B"

Hm... without retyping stats, a twin light turbolaster (turret), twin medium laser cannon (turret); two proton torpedo launchers.

2 Hardpoints.

Curiously enough, it does not have passenger capacity beyond the crew quarters.

Yeah that is odd.

That's really weird. Does it say 0 or is the line just missing? I'm wondering if they simply missed the line like the Sensors for the Wayfarer in the corebook.

No. No missing line, specifically it says passenger capacity of 0. But it has a crew of 8.

Odd. I think I'll be using my own version, modified by the official stats when the book arrives.

Why is every ship supposed to have passengers? This makes the ship be more of a true cargo ship, or the default configuration is that of cargo. I'm sure we will get rules on retrofitting a ships cargo to passenger berths or hardpoints when the technician book comes out.

I'm fine if the ship has 0 passengers, gives more room for a fighter bay.

That's fair, of course it also depends on encumbrance capacity, but considering the previous stats for it I find it odd that it has no room for passengers if fully crewed.

I already have some tentative rules for passenger retrofits, so I could use those... At least as a starting point.

Does "Passengers: 0" maybe just mean it doesn't have specific quarters for extra passengers?

I'm away from my book so I forget exactly how it's used in the ship descriptions.

The CR90 for instance, the long description says there's different configurations, and what some typical ones are, then it lists ranges and says "up to X" for the various capacities. So it sounds more like this is just a flat thing.

Man, I'm so jealous, CoolStuffInc shows it still in preorder... :(

I feel your pain - this has been a most agonizing week. One FLGS says tomorrow, one said "There's a new book? I should order it!" and one says Monday.

While I really want the book and all the stuffs, I am glad I am more interested in the Bounty Hunter book. This week would have killed me as well!

They're putting it on the shelves as we speak at Dragon's Lair here in Austin. Just brought mine home!

I'd think this. Like, there's room for passengers, but they won't have bunks or refreshers or any sorts of amenities. They'd just have to hang out in the cargo area.
