Dangerous Covenants off the boat and SHIPPING!!

By polyheadronman, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I assume Steady Nerves might be for Cool, and Improvised Detonation could be both Mechanics and Skulduggery I suppose.

Steady Nerves is for Cool and Skulduggery, Improvised Detonation works with Mechanics... basically a "conjure a bomb" talent.

Nice, much in the same way I think a BH/survivalist is a better scout than a scout, this spec strikes me as a better infiltrator than the infiltrator.

Any new gear that is not weaponry, I am looking for new gear and explosives and want options.

Yeah, but that is cause the talents for an Infiltrator arent for infiltrating.

Well, yes, that was kind of my point.

Still hoping someone can do a list of the new weapons and ships.

Could you just start at page 1 and type what it says. You can stop at the end of the book.

It'd take more than three days...

Plus all that artwork would be hard to draw in.

So on the Heavy... do they get any kind of special boost regarding possession or eating of sandvich? :D

I recognize several of the Demolitionist's new talents from the Saboteur in AoR, but that's not too surprising given the overlap in theme between the two.

I'm taking a wild stab in the dark, but I'd guess that HappyDaze's issue with Barrage is that it's really not that useful, since it only takes effect at long or extreme range, two range categories that don't show up very often in a lot of combats; most fights tend not to go much past Medium range, due to most PCs only having pistols, which cap out at Medium range. Even if one does feel that it's a subpar talent, it does make sense for the Heavy given they're all about using the big-arse guns.

Isn't it the GM's 'job' to facilitate such things though? I know that our scout likes to be the one that sees danger approaching from afar with the use of her binoculars and bionic eyes (thank you Cratala), or that our politician likes to work the crowd, or that our Bounty hunter loves to impress with her superior fire power, and how much fun would it be for our Astromech if he never gets to do his job?

I think I need to supply my players with situations that challenge them but also come up with encounters or problems that give them their moments to shine. I would take note of a player wanting to add a barrage skill and play to its strengths ever so often.

Perhaps even have them get into a situation where "barrage really would have been helpful" so that he/she would be tempted to pick it up next time they got their XP.

DanteRotterdam, absolutely!

I've been looking at the new talents our PCs have taken on lately, specifically with an eye toward adding places to use those talents in a game.

A PC has Skilled Jockey, so I make a note to give them dangerous terrain to fly through so his ability gives an advantage. He's got Let's Ride!, so I've written it into the next adventure that the PCs are under fire as they approach their ship, and it would be handy to jump into the cockpit and fire up the ship fast!

The Outlaw Tech has Utinni! so I'm adding places that scavenging would come in really handy. He's got Convincing Demeanor, so I keep that in mind planning future social encounters.

What sort of gear are you talking about? This book does have explosives that are the type to be planted, rather than hurled or delivered in the heat of battle. Yet in explaining how they work, I'd be violating copyright for reprinting rules. Just know that because of the demolitionist, planted explosive charges are part and parcel of the book itself.

As for gear, I need you to be more specific. I can include one teaser: Powered Armor. :)

In Star Wars? That seems odd.

It makes sense for Hired Guns and Bounty Hunters I think. And some examples exist (in the EU at least), like darktroopers and one version of the spacetrooper. I wouldn't be surprised if there are others as well. I'd imagine the armor has to be pretty dang spendy too.

Corellian Powersuits has been a staple in Star Wars RPGs forever. I believe Space Trooper armor is also power armor amongst everything else.

Indeed, but it's not overly powerful in comparison, from what I've seen. It's expensive, rare, restricted, and it's benefits are marginal given the cost. It also is low encumbrance because it is self powered, but the encumbrance multiplies by 4 if the suit ever lost power. Compared with Heavy battle armour it has one higher soak, half the encumbrance, has visual aids and adds +1 to Brawn and Athletics but specifically not to soak or wounds beyond the suit itself. I don't see it being used a lot, but it is there.

I set up situations so they can use their skills all the time.

Last session I had an ME2-style elevated 'shooting gallery' at long range so Reya could get her Barrage on...

I leave it up to the players to find ways to maximize their strengths. Barrage just doesn't work out too well when the rest of the group isn't deliberately setup to play off of it. Compare it to how often Point Blank is useful in the average adventure and you can see my issue.

Lots. Seriously. Everything from speeders to capital ships... so I can't be that specific without knowing what you're looking for.

I;m most interested in the capital ships, but only slightly less so in the fighters. Anything completely new or at least not statted in previous Star Wars RPG systems?

Has anyone heard anything from Miniature Market or other online game dealers? My pre-order is still processing, but I'm really excited!

I see one store that claims it's in-stock, and has been since early last week, but they never responded to my e-mail on if it really is the case. Most other stores I see seem to indicate they won't be getting it in until the 26th, at which point they probably won't ship it to their customers until the 27th. And then there's the weekend. :(

This is pretty much what information l received also from an old time game store guy l've used.

Even if a retailer does receive it early, I'm betting they won't risk selling it before the street date.

When it comes to barrage I agree that it can be tough to work in. However, in an effort to get a better feel I actually used Wikimapia and went out into my neighborhood to get a better feel for about 200', which is roughly the end of medium range. Looking at it and looking around a neighborhood helped me visualize it really isn't all that far and it shouldn't be hard to incorporate it more. The Range(L) people are probably going ot have to close some distance more often.

I can't say in terms of previous iterations of Star Wars RPGs, as I have very little of those at my fingertips. In terms of fighters, there's the A-7 Hunter Interceptor, and the Preybird-class Starfighter. The Capital ships are Rendili Stardrive Neutron Star-class Bulk Cruiser, the Keldabe-class Battleship, and the smaller Starbolt Assault Carrier. The latter one appears to be a new design not previously known, but it has an interesting backstory.

My FLGS said that it should be released tomorrow, which means they won't get it in until Friday. That's OK, of all the books that have been announced or already released, this one was my least anticipated.
