My Little Spaceship: Combat is Magic

By Darth Furor, in X-Wing

SOoooo, I was at a LGS watching a game when the young player started flying his empire a bit randomly. Vader flew off away from combat, Fel flew off the board and steele was jogging.

So a couple of the guys and me watching started talking about why Vader is flying away. Our conclusion is that Vader was watching the newest episode of My Little Pony being directly piped into his helmet. We got a few laughs about Vader being a Broni.

Then the older player said it would be fun to paint the rebels as MLP. So, we started figuring what ship was who. Here is what we got.

YT-1300 M. Falcon- Pinkie Pie

X-wing, luke with R2- Twilight Sparkle & spike

Y-wing- Applejack

A-wing- Rainbow Dash

HWK- Rarity

B-wing- Fluttershy

I was a fun talk and most had fun talking about it. What are your takes?

Dude, you know the names of my little ponies and yet your forum name begins with "Darth"? My mind is just blown...

Seeing a B-Wing coloured like Fluttershy or a YT-1300 coloured like Pinkie Pie would certainly be something to behold. Though the HWK and A-Wing might look good with those suggestions...

That said, I think you're a little nuts in your own special brony way to have though of that in the first place, but I certainly won't fault you for your creative process. :3

I do have a 4 year old. So, I'm bound to know about them.

Besides, Empire is for serious business. Rebels are for funzies. Was thinking of painting my Rebels pinks and purples. But MLP is just way more fun.

Heeey, the Rebellion is nothing to take for granted. At least we know how to have fun~

Just because our fleet is 20% cooler...

Keep in mind we have Wave 4 coming out. If you wait, my suggestion would be:

X-wing, luke with R2- Twilight Sparkle & spike

B-wing- Applejack

A-wing- Rainbow Dash

HWK- Rarity

Z-95- Fluttershy

Y-Wing- Pinkie Pie

E-Wing- Derpy Hooves

YT-1300 M. Falcon- Big Mac

As for imperials?

TIE Advanced- Chrysalis

TIE Fighter- Changelings

TIE Phantom- Nightmare Moon

TIE Defender- Sombra

TIE Interceptor- Shadowbolt

TIE Bomber- I have no idea

Lamdba- Celestia or Angel

Firespray- Discord

So THAT'S why Vader spends so much time in his "isolation chamber..."

We didn't get into the villains. I'm keeping Empire fairly standard. But I'll have to look into it. Might be fun to paint it all up in MLP just for giggles all around.

Y-wing doesn't seem to go with Pinkie Pie. We were basing ship with the personality.

Ok, so totally might put cutie marks on a couple of my ships, and not repaint them in any other way, and see how long it takes for someone to notice.

This is disgusting. What is wrong with the pony fandom? How can you not be embarassed to approach people in public shrieking about 'Pinkie Pie!!'. Grown men/women obsessed over a children's cartoon. I had the misfortune of encountering a group like this at Gencon, trying to bleed their pony fandom into normal games. People thankfully ostracized them into their own little group and they left the rest of us in peace.

I demand to see a Rainbow Dash custom paint job.

Deleted, I have better things to do than argue on the internet

I have a 6 year old boy, a 2 year old boy, a 27 year old daughter, a 25 year old daughter, and two grandsons, 4 and 1. I do not now and never have known the name of any little pony. My 6 year old however can identify every godzilla by movie and year.

And thank god for people like you, the fandom is horrid. Some of the most overbearing, socially inept people I've ever encountered. Please, keep your....pseudo furry fandom out of other games. I think they have a card game specifically for MLP fans, go...go play that or something.

Honestly, I've seen MLPer's try to shoehorn their stuff into Warhammer 40k, Dark Souls, Dungeons and Dragons/Pathfinder (this was by far the worst offender), and now X-Wing....I just have to shake my head and wonder what happened to cause an adult to not only clutch onto a very obviously young children's cartoon, but to try and force their fandom into every possible hobby that it doesn't belong.

You don't know terror (and maximum awkwardness) until you're at Gencon, and a balding man in his 40s is coming towards you in a bright blue spandex outfix with a rainbow mane, plush little horse doll clutched under his arm, to disrupt your game of Star Trek: Star Fleet Battles, to let you know about his fanfic where the star trek universe discovers planet pony....and won't go away (even after being told "we don't care"). He literally stood there for 10 minutes staring at us before getting the hint.

I'm sorry it's just such a huge pet peeve of mine seeing this sub-culture fetish obesssion being slammed into places it was never intended, and should never be intended to be. It's like watching a child trying to shove a square block into the round hold.

And that's my rant for the day.

HunterEste, there are always socially inept people that show up in every weird little geek hobby or subculture. I'm not saying your point isn't valid or that your experience doesn't hold any sort of merit for a completely logical reason for hating them, but it's not as if those unfortunate lack of social skills are exclusive to the bronies. Hell, I'm a mildly autistic anime fan and furry who plays a geektastic game like this, but I've learned to grow up a little at least and let people enjoy what they enjoy.

My point is, please don't crap all over a thread topic if you have nothing constructive to say that contributes to the overall competitive but supportive spirit of the game of X-Wing. I don't even -like- MLP:FiM but the topic still amused me enough.

Trying to preserve our hobby from getting invaded by this plague is hardly 'crapping' someone has to tell them "no" at some point. I understand the lack of social skills is not eclusive to the bronies, but it sure is prevelant in their fandom. The further we keep those fandoms apart, the better.

I'm not saying they can't enjoy their...'hobby' just don't do it in a manner that ruins other peoples' hobbies.

Oh I'm so sorry, I had no idea this thread's mere existence was such a personal inconvenience to you and your enjoyment of the game! Please explain how your feelings take precedence over everybody else's here in yet more detail! I'm sure everybody will understand how the thread is ruining things for you!

HunterEste. I am by no means a rabid fan of the show. I like the ideas they put forth in ways that younger kids can grasp.

You have said your piece and stated your reasons for not liking the cross over. Now please leave and let those that find this topic fun have our fun. This is not hurting you in any way. Just shake your head and walk away.

Apparently you didn't understand what I was saying. I guess I'm not surprised seeing your self-described background. You're responding exactly how I'd expect.

You know Hunter, it's funny how you went on and on about how your personal space was being violated by someone who was shoving their values in their faces and then as soon as the shoe is on the other foot you take it as an opportunity to attack an entire group of people for no particularly justifiable reason while saying that you're protecting this hobby as if it's your personal self appointed mission to keep bronies from "ruining this game". If you don't like something that's perfectly fine, and I agree that you're entitled to that opinion, but you don't have to protect this game just because some weirdo at a convention made a distasteful impression on you. And it also doesn't give you the right to act as if you've been personally attacked when nobody forced you to look at this thread, or even comment on it.

Oh, by Celestia...

Get the kriff out. Just get the kriff out.

Man, you're acting very immaturely.

I'm a brony myself, and I am not, nor have I ever been, "overbearing" or "socially inept". By grouping every member of the fandom into a single umbrella term, you are not only doing a disservice to a very nice group of people who have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in a little over three years for everything from cancer research to helping families in poor nations buy chicken and goat farms, but you also open yourself up to be grouped in with the "overbearing, socially inept" Star Wars geeks we all know and love.

You also mentioned the word "fetish" which doesn't even apply to a majority of the fandom according to a reputable scientific study being done, which has been invited to be shown at a national-level psychology convention.

Your beef with my fandom is as senseless as the beef some Star Wars fans have with the Star Trek fandom for starting all that "versus" crap in the late 90's. It is senseless because rather than trying to see the good in us you have instead chosen to make all of us fit your personal definition of "brony". I suppose you don't care that Tara Strong, the voice actress who plays Twilight Sparkle and many other beloved cartoon characters, openly supports the fandom and encourages it, and has used them to raise money to treat the disease her friend's daughter Kiki suffered from, though she later perished from it, and the bronies themselves made art and sold it to help cover the cost of her hospitalization bills. Maybe you weren't aware of the amount of people who serve my country in the military who are big fans of MLP, like this guy:

NavyBrony.jpg

of which there are a hundred at least (the military brony website FOBEquestria has 100 members, and there are probably more in all likelihood). Or perhaps it would interest you to know that many people in the brony community reach out and promote things like Race for the Cure using ponies as a podium for their efforts under the banner of "friendship is magic".

But I suppose you wouldn't let a little thing like decency disrupt your tirade against a growing and thriving community of (mostly) good people who do some pretty amazing things in the name of "love and tolerate".

Might I say also that you must be a pretty sensitive guy to be that offended by one member of the fandom. I think I'll go draw Fluttershy in your honor; she sounds like a pony you'd be able to identify with. ;)

Falsehood, speaking nothing but truthhoods.

This guy.

This guy is a paragon.

That Rainbow Dash mark is awesome on a Serviceman. I think I need to paint all the ships in MLP and use glitter too. :P

Okay, this is strange. I didn't even know this was a "thing" until recently. Very, very strange.
