For the Lulz

By Zoccola, in X-Wing

So I had some inspiration in that thread about Saboteur, this could be fun:

Outer Rim Smuggler — YT-1300
*Saboteur
*Intelligence Agent
*Anti-Pursuit Lasers
*Millennium Falcon

Kyle Katarn — HWK-290
*Squad Leader
*Ion Cannon Turret
*Recon Specialist
*Moldy Crow

Outer Rim Smuggler — YT-1300
*Saboteur
*Intelligence Agent
*Anti-Pursuit Lasers

Heck I could run 3 ORS, but I dont own three. :) Adding Kyle will give me the option to hand out some Focus or another action to one of the ORS.

I should note that Saboteur might be good, but you have to sacrifice Navigator to get it. This means that even with Intel Agent, you can't do anything to block your enemy since the ORS and HWK have no ability to use their action to move or adjust their final position in any way. I think you are better off with Navigator than Saboteur with this. If you want to change something, change one of the Intel Agents.

But without IA, you're not going to know that you want to change it.. at least for the ORS (ignoring a loss of Init against an academy heavy squad, at which point APL are useless anyways).

With Navigator or other way to alter you movement after setting the dial (boost/roll) the Intelligence Agent's info is pretty useless except maybe to choose actions.

Having a Navigator lets you change your planned action but in the case of the ORS that mostly means you are second guessing how you originally set your dial. The Navigator on a high PS ship lets you react to changing board conditions but on the lowest PS ships it just means you screwed up when setting your dial most of the time.

If you're going to run the ORS w/ APL without the IA (at least having it available) AND Navigator you might just as well run it without EITHER of them. The IA only helps if you can make good use of the intel and Navigator only helps if you after gaining additional information not available during the planning phase. If you are very good and know how your opponent thinks you could run ORS w/ APL without either one of the crewmen and it will perform every bit as well as it performs when they are there.

You may want to try this out instead. Since you have the Crow can stack focus to pass or use later, the Sqd.Leader allows for action passing IF both ORS needs a focus (or you want to Saboteur, Focus, TL with a single).

There is also an Intel Agent on the HWK-290 for using Navigator + APL on the ORS.
