Six packs in four months?

By player266669, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Someone check me on this...

The final pack in the next cycle, Darkness and Light, is due to release in the second quarter of 2014. This is according to the preview fo rthat pack which was posted earlier today.

The second quarter of 2014 includes the months of April, May and June. Let's conservatively assume that Darkness and Light comes out in June.

The first pack in the same cycle has a listed release date of March 2014.

If I'm doing the math right here, I think that implies that the Star Wars card game will see packs coming out in the spacen of only four months (March-June).

Am I connecting the dots correctly here? If so, that's awesome. Talk about making up for a quiet few months!

The other way to connect the dots is that the force cycle will extend later than Q2. I consider that more likely, but I certainly wouldn't complain if they finished the cycle by June.

Pack 1 and 2 March

3 April

4 May

5 June

6 July

Is how I see things shaping up.

Darkness and Light is listed as Q3 on the Upcoming page.

I basically see this going like it did last year with roughly 6 weeks from release to release after the first arrives.

Weird. The announcement article definitely says second quarter.

*shrug*

It was probably typed up months ago dude. :P

Also, remember that in FFG language "second quarter" means "by Christmas if you're lucky." ;)

Seriously though, I love FFG's products, but they aren't the best at hitting their delivery goals. I tend to not count on anything until I see it as "on the boat" at which time you can pretty reasonably expect 6 weeks.

Netrunner seems to be pretty consistent, though they did miss one month late last year. Not sure about the other ones. I see Game of Thrones come out pretty regularly, seemingly more so than Star Wars. I guess they're different teams and some take longer than others.

It's been pretty dry for Star Wars LCG... I wonder if it's because Star Wars RPG (Age of Rebellion and Edge of the Empire) have been having pretty regular releases. Shared assets/employees/competition for print times?

Rpg and LcG are completely separate other than sharing some of the artwork. Which makes sense.

Yea they are separate lines, but who knows how FFG handles things like art assets, design, and printing. Maybe instead of each "line of product" getting their own, maybe it's grouped on "Intellectual Property". Like Battles of Westeros and AGoT LCG all share a print slot and design/art asset team.

Just randomly pondering -- not much else to do right now!

BTW if you haven't tried FFG's Star Wars RPG, it's really good. I personally like it better than d20 3.5 rules (D&D, Pathfinder, Star Wars).

I think you are most likely right from the posts above. The only thing I might mention is that at GenCon they might have the remaining cycle force packs available. They did this for LOTR last year. If you noticed this while you were in the FFG booth, you got to purchase two adventure packs ahead of the release schedule as well as the Black Riders saga expansion.

Yes, it is excellent.

FFG is really hurting my playing area. We have not recieved the Store Championship kits, we haven't had any new cards in forever (a little exaggeration I know).

I don't mean to bit ch, but they are not performing at a high level in which other companies do in regards to their player base.

Not happy with them right now. More details and not just spoilers please.

Maybe instead of complaining about it on the forums you might want to contact FFG about those Store Championship Kits.

Have you tried that yet?

All the stores I frequent have received store championship kits. I would urge your local store to contact them, maybe they thought they were selected and are mistaken?

With all due respect, please understand I think before I reply, so yes, we have contacted them and they said there has been a high demand (which we understand) and they are getting out as soon as possible (which we also understand). My point was that if you want to be super competitive in this market have a better plan to be prepared. I love FFG games (Battlestar Galactica is my favorite board game), so I say this in wanting FFG to be a better company not just to complain.

Understood. Your intent did not come through much in the initial comment you made. Mostly just looked like a complaint.

While two packs in one month would make me very, very happy, the (very tiny) realist in me says it's not going to happen. At least it gives me something to look forward to every month, and the packs are so cheap that I can easily treat myself without worrying about my budget.

To get 2 packs in March, the 2nd pack would need to already be on the boat... so it's going to be delayed unless FFG decides to pay whatever insane amount it would take to get the cards airlifted here instead of the normal shipping (so basically not going to happen).

Ya I was looking at this the other day, I was originally very hopeful that we would get all the packs really quick, but now I'm started to doubt that we will get 1 pack a month with this cycle... I wish they would step it up with this game, they can stay on track with netrunner, I don't get why they can't with this game.

Quite possibly licensing related. Netrunner doesn't ever have to send things through LFL/Disney for approval. Hopefully they eventually get that figured out.

Very good point. I'm sure there is a lot of upheaval internally at LFL, given the Disney buyout.

And it's starting to look like my prediction of the set hitting next week will be wrong as it's still "on the boat" and not "shipping now" yet. Oddly still predicting on Lure in March... I'm thinking we'll be lucky to see it in April.
