what, in your opinion, is the best cannon upgrade?

HLC, easily. The others are good, but much more situational.

I like the Heavy Laser Cannon, and the Ion Cannon Turret best. The Ion Cannon is nice but typically I'll find better things to with with those points, since it isn't 360 deg.

The Blaster Cannon only really works with a HWK-290 with Recon Agent so you can get 2 focus per action.

The Autoblaster is nice, but very limited in what it's truly effective against. The only time it's really useful is against low hull/high defense ships like Tie Interceptors or Tie Fighters. But even then you're almost always better off with something else.

The Imperials have more DEF:3 ships than they do DEF:2 so in casual games (where the Empire always faces the Rebels) an Autoblaster on B-Wing is always nice. And on Ten Numb it's bonkers!!

HLC on Krassis is expensive but absolutely worth it - 4 dice on all three ranges and no extra defence die for the victim at range 3 + focus + the free reroll can consistently finish off most rebel ships if they took any amount of damage previously.

Ion Cannon I don't like much - I find myself always wanting to rather shoot for damage with the ships that can equip it.

Anti-persuit is just... I don't even want to talk about it!

And for me, Ion Cannon on Krassis Trelix is starting to feel pretty good, especially against low-evade ships.

I'm not a huge fan of any cannon on the Firespray, except for maybe the Autoblaster, and that one is very situational and can be difficult to use. The Firespray simply moves too fast because of its large base to really get much use for the points you are spending. In most cases, a missile will be just as good if not better.

IMO the B-wing makes a better platform, since it moves slower and can more easily get 3+ uses of the cannon in a game, making it more worthwhile.

That being said, I think some people have mentioned upgrades that are not cannons. The only cannon upgrades in the game currently are:

- Heavy Laser Cannon (HLC)

- Ion Cannons

- Autoblaster

Everything else are not cannons...
