Wookiee Vehicles and Starships

By Dex Vulen, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I was tooling around with character ideas and realized there is not much in the way of Wookiee vehicles, or star ships anywhere.

Does anybody have anything written up for their Flutter Bike (I think it is called that), their catamaran or the Agr? Maybe I am overlooking them as well.

Thanks!

Just take a regular vehicle and make it out of wicker.

Wicker, sir!? You dare compare the bark and limbs of the mighty wroshyr tree to mere wicker? You may as well call Corusca gems mere shiny pebbles! You sir have no respect for the noble wroshyr! You see this? O_O <---This piercing glare into your very soul!? That, GOOD SIR, is my Judging-You Face. And it finds you wanting........

But seriously though, yeah adapting an existing vehicle shouldn't be hard.

Anything with plenty of leg and head room will do.

Anything with plenty of leg and head room will do.

I guess re-skinning would work, but really wanted something more 'substantial'. More for fluff reasons I guess.

I wasn't aware that Wookies had any heavy industry capable of building a starship, or any vehicles for that matter. Their wookipedia article pretty much confirms this.

Maybe there's something in the EU but I thought that even Chewbacca's mechanical skill was stuff he picked up after hooking up with Han, or maybe as a slave.

Are you looking for vehicles actually made by Wookies? I don't recall any racial vehicles for them as they always seemed to use other vehicles.

They seem more like that little nation that imports cars and has no domestic car industry.

Obviously 're-skinning' takes on a new meaning from that point of view..

Wookies are scavengers. They stole all their tech from the Trandoshans that they brutally murdered.

Wookiees are well known for their scientific knowledge, including astrogation. That's part of the reason they were chosen for the Death Star project over say... Gamorreans. Not only are they strong and tough, they are quite knowledgeable as well. Between Han and Chewie I'd say Chewie is probably the brains of the operation. They're tech might sometimes look primitive due to it's incorporation of wroshyr wood, but with such a resource why not use it?

In terms of sources of vehicles on nearby planets there is Ubrikkia (a source of vehicles for the Imperial Army and the Hutts alike) and Lantilles (Known for making very reliable ships over flashy or elegant ones. They are also known for allowing aliens into their guilds and companies, which I imagine would include Wookiees). The Wookiee colony world Rakhuun has a small shipyard where beautifully designed yachts and freighters are produced.

Well Galactic Battlegrounds has them producing fighers, bombers, speeder bikes and tanks. Rvenge of the Sith shows some Wookiee produced Airspeeders, so I would say there are definitely still some Wookiee designed and produced ships and vehicles around. They might not be in production during the rebellion era, and are likely produced underground if they are stilll produced at all but I doubt the Empire could realistically destroy every Wookiee produced ship or vehicle in existence.

Edit: In fact at least some of the Wookiee produced vehicles shown in Galactic Battlegrounds were seen in story missions set in 1 ABY.

Galactic Battlgrounds is a pretty weak source to justify Wookie industrial capacity...

I'm also one of those people that despise game designers that extrapolate an entire race's characteristics from a single character's particular skill set.
