Heroes of the Rebellion

By Englishpete, in X-Wing

As I continue to experiment with squads for the upcoming store championships I have been impressed with my 4 Ints all firing on PS9.

I was not impressed with my B-Wings all firing at PS8. I am now fairly convinced that 3 B-Wing lists are handicapped by the dial and agility. Don't get me wrong, I love them in a mixed ship list, but not as a single ship type squad.

So, the Rebels are now going to send out The Heroes of the Rebellion

Luke Skywalker, Veteran Instincts, R2-D2 (33)

Wedge Antilles, Swarm Tactics, Shield Upgrade, R2 Unit (35)

Garven Dreis, Shield Upgrade, R2 Unit (30)

10, 9, 9 shooting and some reasonable synergy and survivability.

Once Imperial Aces come out, I'm seriously considering going with Hull Upgrades and R5s instead of the standard Shield/R2 X-Wing build. Talk about added survivability and crit resistance!

It certainly is a great option. It will also be interesting to see what the basic R7 will do.

I'd drop Veteran Instincts and one of the R2's and give swarm to Luke as well.

Luke going from 10 to a 8 is not going to make a difference like 90-95% of the time since 8 is so high already. With both Luke AND Wedge having swarm, means if one dies the other can still give swarm to Garven, or if one isn't in range 1 of Garven the other can be.

I did think of that as that makes everyone PS9, which would work well too. It also leaves me at 99pts for initiative.

That's actually 101, that's why I said you have to drop one of the R2's.

Right now you have:

Luke is 34 (28+2+4)

Wedge is 36 (29+2+4+1)

Garven is 31 (26+4+1)

OMG I can't count ;-)

You are quite right, I may drop both R2's for initiative.

I like how tanky your original list is.

Garven can basically only share his focus with Wedge, who is already the X-Wing to take out. This will either give your most damaging ship even more damage, or it will give the ship most likely to be focused down extra defense.

I can't help but wonder if Draw Their Fire on Luke isn't better than VI when he's got R2-D2.

Draw their fire With R2D2 IS the best set up for Luke. He pulls all the crits so you're X-wings live longer.

I know everyone likes Luke and Draw their Fire, but I prefer to shoot all at PS9 with this list.

When Aces and the Transport are out I really like the look of this.

Wedge Antilles, Hull Upgrade, R5 Unit (33)

Luke Skywalker, Draw Their Fire, R2-D2 (32)

Jed Porkins, Veteran Instincts, Hull Upgrade, R5 Unit (31) (assumes Porkins is a base 27points)

It makes for a very crit resistant squad with high PS
