A few squad ideas

Hi all,

I am relatively new to the game and haven't had the chance to play very many games. As such, I have been trying to read a lot on the forum here to see what type of lists work well. I have wanted to try to put my own ideas together for play rather than to copy those of others. I have a few ideas and wanted to get other's (with more experience then me) ideas on them. Thanks in advance for any and all comments/suggestions.

1. Howlrunner (18) + Swarm Tactics (2) = (20)

Scimitar (16) + APT (6) X2 = (44)

Alpha (18) X2 = (36)

(100) points

2. Variation of the above list but replace the 2 Alphas with Academy (12) X3

(100) points

3. Krassis Trelix (36) + HLC (7) + Mercenary Copilot (2) = (45)

Howlrunner (18) + Swarm Tactics (2) = (20)

Mauler Mithel (17) + Marksmanship (3) = (20)

Winged Gundark (15)

(100) points

4. This is a Rebel Squad idea I thought may work well:

Ten Numb (31) + Marksmanship (3) = (34)

Green (19) + PTL (3) = (22)

Rookie (21) + R2 Astromech (green maneuvers) (1) X2 = (44)

(100) points

I haven't really had the chance to play any of these yet and am hoping to get help narrowing down my ideas before I do. I have mostly played Imps at home so far but would also like to try Rebels at local game nights, hence the rebel squad I listed. So, do any of these have merit against a variety of other players?

I've got a couple of things for you with each fleet, if you'll hold on

1.)

Advanced Proton Torpedoes, though devastating if you can get them off while focused, need some help to get into that scenario. They've got the most stringent range of all of the ordnance, and if you're not focused their special mechanic doesn't work at all.

Also, Howlrunner is going to be the pilot your foes will focus down first, with good reason: She's got the best pilot ability in the entire game, and singlehandedly almost doubles the damage of the rest of your ships. Give her some added defense (like a Stealth Device, Push the Limit, and/or Elusiveness).

This is particularly doable if you downgrade your APTs to a more often useful missile, torpedo, or bomb.
Also consider ditching Swarm Tactics.

2.)

Howlrunner + Swarm + 2x Alpha + 3x Academy = 92, not 100.

3.)

Behold, for the Krittening is at hand!
I'm not a fan of this one, but I can't really offer any direct "Do this instead" moments either.

If you drop the Merc Copilot, Mauler, and Gundark, you can afford 3x Academies with 1 point spare, which will serve you far better.

4.)

This is actually a pretty good squad.

The only complaint I'd give is that folks tend not to like A-Wings around here (though I think they're under-used), and that I'd much prefer Ibtisam + Adv Sensors + PTL than Ten + Marks, but that's my personal taste, rather than a mistake on your part.

Thanks for the comments. I wasn't really sure about the advanced torpedoes but the payoff if thy worked was attractive. I could see downgrading to concussion missiles and then putting stealth device on howl runner for the added protection.

Also maybe I wasn't clear on he second list but I was dropping the two alpha interceptors for three academy ties. So it would be howl runner and the two scimitars and then three academy ties.

As for the third, I wasn't sure about it either. Only having four ships worries me put I thought the higher ps may be worth it.

i like ur squad#3.

Krassis + heavy laser cannon is a beating, i think if u had recon specialist (it comes in the HWK-290 expansion) id put that on there as well and drop the marksmanship from mauler.

what ships/numbers of ships do u have available?

My current ship list is in my signature.

I do have recon specialist so I'll have to look into that. Thanks!
