Eastern Front Expansion at Gen Con

By Sloejack, in Tide of Iron

Greetings all;

I've been away for awhile tending to family matters but I happened to be going through the event catalog for Gen Con and noticed "Tide of Iron: Fury of the Bear" listed as an event. I did a little (not a lot to be fair) of catching up on the forums and looked around on the site but didn't see anything about the expansion. Does anyone have any information they can share?

Short Description from the event catalog: The European theatre of WW II moves east as the Germans attempt to invade and take over the Motherland-Russia. Play the newest Tide of Iron expansion Fury of the Bear.

This is great news...I am pumped. I was so hoping they would do Eastern Front next.

I'm super pumped, too, if this news is accurate. And as to the title...way to go! aplauso.gif Fury of the Bear sounds like an awesome title for this expansion.

Oh, FFG tried to keep it under cover, but did not succeed. happy.gif

If some of you will go to that Gen Con do not forget to take along a keg of honey, to apease that furious (Russian) bear gui%C3%B1o.gif

Isn't the title a bit close to "Conflict of Heroes: Awakening the Bear"?

So first we awaken the bear, then he gets furious - what's next - nap time?

Okay...somebody who knows more about the gaming industry than I help me out with this. If they plan to show the game at GenCon and GenCon is in August what can we infer about the game's release date? Is there any way to tell when it might be based on this info?

Let's just say, based on history, I'm going to pace myself.

Thanks for this info, sloejack. Is this info online anywhere, i.e. other than the catalog which I don't have? Also, I'm looking at my rulebook and can't find a rule that prohibits players from designating Christmas money for the next expansion 8 months in advance. I can't even find it under Op-Fire or anything...

The Gen Con event catalog is available online at www.gencon.com

As someone else pointed out earlier, it seems they were trying to keep the expansion under wraps until it was closer to the con most likely but the event submission schedule seems to have been their undoing on that front. My guess in terms of a release date is that there will probably be a limited release at Gen Con (similar to how they did BSG last year) with a full release to follow later (a month or so).

What would be really nice is if FFG handed out add in cards for the new divisions that they've released online so here's hoping that's their ToI swag.

Sorry, that did not work (again).

How do I get pics hosted elsewhere in here?

I the for what it's worth column, the two events for the expansion have been pulled from the event catalog as of its most recent update. That's unfortunate, since I was looking forward to it. I wonder if that means that the expansion will not be seen at GenCon now.
