Does anybody knows date of premiere? Anybody...
Release date
I'd say "Soon" or "When it's ready" but I think Blizzard already trademarked both of those.
Only thing I've seen is on their Upcoming page, which shows this game is Q4 2014.
Pure speculation on my part but my guess would be they will try to release this to coincide with the release of The Witcher 3:Wild Hunt pc game(good cross promotion there). The pc release is still to be determined but I would guess we'll see the board game preview at Gen Con with the general release "holiday" time in line with the likely release of the PC version.
Edit:So it looks like CD Projekt has delayed the PC game until Feb. 2015 so they can work on the overall quality of the game. Hopefully FFG won't sit on the board game for too long.
Edited by phineusphuleThis really looks to be fun!
Edited by farrlinnAfter reading over some of the notes and previews of the game, I'm actually quite interested in it now. Will definitely consider picking this up...along with the 3rd game of the video game series (which is a must buy).
Polish release date is 27th november 2014
And my preorder has already been sent yesterday (25th) so guys from CD Projekt RED are really trying hard to make the game get to the players before x-mas.
Hope You guys get Yours as soon as possible.
Best wishes
It's officially available starting from today
Just got mine yesterday - totally worth every penny spent on it!
OT - The board have much better quality in finish than in the Relic and I love those miniatures.
Edited by OktawI can't stand what i'm reading about this game over the internet. Many people say things like "This game should have been more like this" or "It's not what I wanted it to be"..."I've heard rumors that it is not complex"...
****, don't they do your research before buying?!?! If you want oranges and finally buy peaches thinking they were oranges, it's your own fault for not having learned what oranges are in the first place.
It's a simpler adventure game with lots of flavor, not Mage Knight that had a kid with Georges RR Martin
When I want to sit for 6 hours of adventuring I have Mage Knight but for the times I want a shorter yet entertaining adventure game session The Witcher will be my #1 choice.
Oh and BTW I reinstalled The Witcher 2 EE on PC after I got my new GTX 970 and enabled Ubersampling, this game is absolutely gorgeous!
Bern,
good points. I honestly liked the game quite a lot during the beta testing; it's fun fast, really unforgiving in certain situations and it allows different level of play: you can go smooth, or you can bastardly create a lot of troubles to your companions. The dice mechanics are cool, the different decks for each character should grant a) replayability and b) good players will know how to build engines out of the cards. Characters seem to be rather consistent with the lore of the game, in terms that the game could still result appealing for the masses: there's certainly a lot less sex and violence than in the books, but it's still a "dark fantasy" game. This said, it's a game. You could like or hate it, you could desire it were different and you can houserule what you don't like, but everything is there and evident: download the rules, read the reviews, watch the walkthroughs and that's it.
I am still waiting for my copy to arrive in the mail, but I agree with Julia and Solennel. I read through the rules a few times and really like the mechanics of the game. From what I can tell it can be played to a more "cooperative" feel than most other FFG games, in that there doesn't really seem to be a mechanic that will purposefully target and screw over another player (that I know of yet anyway). I was hoping for the game to be the lighter feel like it is because while my gaming group loves long games (4-5 hour Arkham Horror) they would rather play something that is a little shorter and can be done multiple times in a night. I look forward to seeing how i can play each character and how their development decks really flesh them out as well. I read all of the books, just finished Baptism of Fire the other week, and I really like how it (so far) follows that lore. I am really excited and look forward to playing a few solo games to get the feel under my belt before exposing my friends to it. I just got them hooked on Galaxy Defenders so they have something to at least occupy their time for now.
I also pre-ordered through my local retailer, but on the third of december, when I asked them what the status is, it's still on the backorder. They said they think it might be a problem in production/supplier being very busy. Meanwhile I saw on another website that their ETA of this game would be 31 December. Though I'm reading that people already got the game.
Am I right to assume Americans have the advantage of having the game available on release since Fantasy Flight Games is an american Company? I live in The Netherlands, in Europe, so maybe the ship carrying the games is still somewhere in the atlantic ocean drifting slowly to european shores? I heard FFG has some distribution places in europe for games to sell in Europe. Well I just wanted to know. I would love to play the game, but I like to know when I can expect to receive it. My board game store is dependant on their supplier and their supplier is dependant on FFG I suppose?
I live in Europe too, and I'm still waiting for my preordered copy as well. Sometimes I noticed this trend too, that FFG games arrive in Europe with a slight delay when compared to the North American distribution. Curious to see if this is gonna change after the merging with Asmodee
