I have a simple question about the Thunder hammer. We can find lot of different rules for this weapon.

But what is the good version of the weapon ? (For exemple with DW)

In Deathwatch errata the weapon : 2D10+5 E Pen 9, Power Field, concussive 1, unwieldy ( and X Strengh bonus like power fist)

But in Black crusade (for legion, like space marine) : 2D10+9 E Pen 9, Power Field, concussive 3, unwieldy BUT no X strengh bonus like power fist.

why this difference ?

I don't have Only war for the last version of the weapon (And I don't know if we can find the rule in this system).

What's the good version?

Ask the autors. But probably balance reasons.

You actually named the said difference, DW Hammer inflicts sligtly less damage, but adds double strenght bonus.

BC Hammer does not. Functions similarly to other weapons. GM might change that if he wants.

Craftsmanship versions vary with the books.

DW Hammer gains +1 damage and +5 WS to wield. (And Best adds +2 damage and +10 WS)

BC is identical to DH, RT or OW, good gains +5 WS, best +1 damage and +10 WS.

And AFAIK OW has no Thunder Hammer to offer yet.

That is all.

I prefer the BC version. While it does less damage, Concussive is quite nice. -30 T test to avoid getting stunned? Yes please.

The BC version is the most interesting I think. The concussive 3 is very powerfull.

The strength bonus works differently between the two systems. In DW you're average marine would have a SB of 4 x 2(unnatural)+ 2 armor giving him a 10 bonus. His hammer would do 2d10+19 with the SB increased to x3.

In BC, unnatural strength is additive so using the increased unnatural wouldn't work very well. A marine in BC with a base strength of 4 would do 2d10+9 + (4+4+2) giving you +19 making them equal.

But a DW marine scales alot higher, so a close combat marine would soon inflict alot more dmg.

Aside from that, Concussive is not that nice. Most things that can survive a direct hit from a Concussive weapon is probably immune to stunning anyway.
