New tourney list

By JeremyBarnhill, in X-Wing

So I am planning on playing in my first store tournament next month and decided to play an HSF list with Luke and Blue Squadron pilots (I don't have a gunner yet) but when I went to get a second B-Wing today my FLGS was out and didn't know when they would be getting any back in.

I decided to try this list instead:

99 points

Garven Dreis (26)

"Dutch" Vander (28)

Y-Wing (23), Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Lando Calrissian (45)\

YT-1300 (44), Nien Nunb (1)

I don't have much play time under my belt so I was hoping for some thoughts and/ or tips.

Thanks!

Could work, but:

Unless you really need initiative, a 1 point upgrade on Lando would be helpful. Determination, adrenaline rush, or the Falcon upgrade would be good. Or you could use a generic astromech on either of the others.

Synergy here is great, but hard to maintain, since you need to keep all your ships so close and have a large based ship. Practice, even solitary, would be great to keep your squad together, and to maximize your action economy advantage, especially since Lando's PS is higher (also means he can't get a focus token from Garven). Asteroids will be an issue.

These disadvantages are not overcome able, and although this list does have a lot of strengths, you need to really know how to fly it to help maintain your biggest strength.

I posted a Lando Fleetbuild challenge a while back.

This was typically considered the best build in the fleet, and is quite close to yours.

Lando Calrissian

+ Push the Limit

[47]

Garven Dreis

[27]

"Dutch" Vander

+ Blaster Turret

[27]

Everyone gets to shoot with a Target Lock and Focus every turn (including "Dutch" with the Blaster Turret, as he will actually have 2 focus tokens at the time).

"Dutch" target locks for himself and for Garven.

Garven focuses for himself and "Dutch"

Lando focuses for himself and "Dutch, and also Target Locks for himself.

This fleet is a bit fragile as far as the action economy goes: take out a single ship, and parts fall off of the others.

Lando + "Dutch" doesn't need Push the Limit anymore, so taking out Garven has a 3 point bonus. It also sacrifices some of the Blaster Turret's utility.

Lando + Garven loses most of Garven's ability, as the focus he passes will only be used defensively, on 1 agility die at that.

"Dutch" + Garven loses the spare Focus, meaning that the Blaster Turret sacrifices some of its utility.

I tried that list, it is so hard to keep them all close enough, so i dropped lando and went with chewy with a few upgrades and it made a massive difference for the better

Chewy, along with Draw Their Fire, is a fantastic use of the Falcon. Let Chewy eat up the damage while your fighters rip up your opponent!
