I have a couple of guys interested in playing Edge of the Empire, and I'm looking for 1-2 more players to round out the group. I plan on GM'ing initially, but players with GM experience are welcome; the group has no problem passing the GM hat around when a story line wraps up. Some general comments that will help narrow down the kind of person we're looking for:
> The ideal player should have pen & paper RPG experience (any system is fine, as EotE is pretty easy to pick up), and decent knowledge of the Star Wars universe beyond "just having seen the movies."
> We play by the rules 90% of the time, mostly when it makes sense, but rules lawyers might not enjoy this group - the cinematic experience and keeping things fluid is more important than rules checking every action. Some minor house rules might come up as we play, but its a democratic process - everyone needs to be having a good time.
> There is a solid focus on the story and moving the plot along, but hanging out, having a beer, cracking a few jokes or making pop culture references is also part of the experience.
> This is not player vs. GM or vice versa. We're looking for relaxed people who are avid gamers and understand that "fun" gaming means everyone is participating/involved. Power gaming is perfectly fine, as long as it is within the rules, has a good backstory to support it, and doesn't adversely impact the story (i.e. "I CAN SEE THE FUTURE!") or other players (i.e. "I hate wookies"); it should also not be an abusive "loop hole" exploit - we all know what they look like.
> Creativity is key. Especially in character development. And I don't mean "Chaz the Transvestite Droid" ... I mean complex characters who have compelling backstories that a GM can use to put them in interesting moral predicaments so the game can evolve beyond "I want to shoot the Stormtrooper in the face." (Please note awkward player-player love stories or player-player competition is not really what we're looking for either.)
The group is comprised of guys in their late 20's early 30's... We don't really care how old or what gender you are, as long as you're able to get into the game and have a good time with the group. In that regard, it will probably make the most sense to play a demo game before we decide to really push forward with a regularly scheduled game.
At this point, we are probably going to game once every 2-4 weeks, probably on a Friday night from 7:30-11:00.
The game will be hosted at my place, which is in Levittown, Pa (Bucks County) - about 30min north of Philly, close to the NJ bridges, etc.
Any questions, let me know.
