Could anyone explain what is legal when praying and what is not legal?

For example, the Knight may pray to raise the score with two? When may this not be done?

Praying takes places in spaces/encounters that use Pray. Off the top of my head the following:

Spaces: Temple and Chapel

Encounters: Shrine and Idol

Or were you asking about something else regarding praying?

In our last game session two days ago one of the participants played as Knight.

I guess we missunderstood the meaning of praying because the player was allowed to pray at any place where he could roll a dice, e.g. Village and City and Tavern and so on.

I know this is a rule that has been in the previous version, but I have just never reflected, until now, where the praying is allowed.

Since the player was able to pray almost everywhere, the lead to that he had a very unbalanced powerful character.

Encounter/spaces that I mentioned all use the word "pray" in the text. No others do IIRC.
