So hard to put in more than six ships but lots of things you could do with 4 TIEs and 3 Interceptors.
I'd put more points into the Interceptors unless you're actually going to move up to named Fighters. Backstabber is often considered a "mini-Interceptor" which costs less but has a higher PS.

I agree with his "interceptor-like" role. I like to put an engine upgrade on him as well, makes him much like an interceptor, same price as an Avenger but with a much higher Pilot Skill. Not quite as maneuverable, obviously, but definitely helps him get his 3 dice or four if you can boost close enough.
Makes him a little expensive for competitive play unless you can get some good mileage out of him, but its definitely fun!

Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics is dangerous, to me. I mean, it isn't like your enemy can focus her HARDER than before, so it's not like ST will bring her any more aggro, but I'd much prefer giving her a defensive upgrade.
That being said, I like having 2 Interceptor flankers along with your ties. I might have to consider that for the future.
