New player buying question...

By jl_zao, in UFS General Discussion

Hi there,

So I'm thinking about buying into set 12, maybe...but I have some questions.

I'm not a competitive player, but I am an expressive player. That is, a starter deck isn't enough for me, but I don't need a perfectly tuned championship deck either.

What I'm looking for is enough of a card pool to design 3-4 creative, moderately competitive decks with different characters and symbols.

Now, I'm wondering if I bought 1 box of shadowar starters and 1 box of shadowar boosters, would that be enough for me to get what I want? What else would folks recommend? I could maybe budget one more box of boosters if someone has a suggestion.

I only am looking at Shadowar because I don't really like the Soul Calibur license. I do like the Street Fighter, SNK, and Darkstalker licenses however, if someone wanted to suggest an older set...BUT if there is a lot of synnergy between the two halves of Set 12, then I'll bite the bullet and buy a box of SCIV as well.

Please, someone, let me know.

Well, you certainly could have playable decks, but as to having for example a playset of a specific characters rares and ultra rare attacks, you wont quite be able to from just a booster box and a starter box. The soul calibur 4 set has some amazing attacks and support, but as a new player and wanting to just get into things, a starter box and a booster box would probably be enough yeah. Besides if you don't get what you need and you're willing to budget another box, you could always go back later.

absolutely!

but a box of starter and boosters and you will have plenty of stuff to make 4-5 interesting decks.

no need to buy older sets for your kind of play.
