Right, if you are one of the following, Random Cultist, Letrii or AoK, do not read! Your characters head will asplode with humerous results! Somehow :/
Anyways, this is an online campaign I'm going to start soon. The plot is as follows:
At the behest of their Inquisitor, the party is sent to Leskin to investigate an increase in Psychic activity on the planet. As the players arrive, I plan to run a modified version of Edge of Darkness, but instead of a bio-mechanical thiing going on, victims will be implanted with a solidified chunk of Spook. The chemical will be different in that it dosn't produce short term effects, in a worst case scenario it can produce a mid level Gamma Psyker overnight. This is easily enough to shatter a persons mind, making them an ideal conduit for all things deamonic and gribbly. So, upon completion of the mission, the players will find a map and what appears to be a calender.
The map shows the Lathe system, and the calender is high lighted in several locations.
(The dates are when the planets go under their super-high-gravity procedure thing.) The map will point out several locations on the three worlds, all corresponding to seperate locations on the calender. When the PC's decide to investigate, they'll find the system has a large cult business going on, with the Tech priests fooled utterly into believing that they're doing the Omnissiahs will, the Techs are recieving vast sums of Spook form throughout the Calixis Sector, and at the appointed times, in the appointet places, the Spook is forced into a solid, high density state by the high gravity. Inevitably, the mechanicus will arrive and cleanse the system. However, the players should find a trade notice, like a reciept. It details the Liquid Spooks original location, 41 Pry.
Now from here, I want to have the players find an area of pure Spook. Ie, raw spook that appears to be forming "naturally" (like warpstone in WFRP), 1 idea is that the Gas Giant Pry is actually a huge mass of Spook, combusting and spreading out. While I do like this idea, it also begets the reason why the surrounding area arn't all Psykers and completley insane.
However, shortly the players will again recieve a telepathic communication, saying how a dense concentration of Psychic Energy is being expended back on Laskin. Here I ideally want to run "The Castermere look", mentioned in a different thread here. However, the Genestealers will have already sent a Psychic call to a hive fleet, which is inbound from the Galactic Northwest (ignoring the fluff here really). SO now, the sector will be flooded with Deathwatch, space marines, Imperial Guard and of course, the Inquisition.
Now from here, I'm not sure how to proceed, there'll be a lot of Red Tape for the characters to cut through, and lots of other Acolytes present. Here I think I want to implement the original campaign theme. This was that:
"Psykers were detecting a concentraion of Psyhic energy on Laskin, the acolytes were dispatched to deal with it, but everytime they came across a psyker, they wre apprehended by an Ordo Malleus team of Psykers, the 2 teams would consistently clash over Psykers. But the Malleus Inquisitor was merleye collecting Psykers in a devious ploy to load them onto a ship, fire the ship into the Eye of Terror and hopefully close it through some sort of reverse...reaction thingamadoodle.
Now, the eye of terror ploy is kinda ludicrous to be honest, so I think maybe this: An Ordo Xenos (instead of Malleus) inquisitor has his acolytes out collecting Rogue Psykers, he believes that the Tyranids feed primarily on Psychic Essense, he believes a dense concentraion of Psykers will draw the Hive Fleet off. Now, I need a way for this to backfire, but the Inquisitor being wrong dosn't seem as dramatic as I would hope.
Anyways, from here, it goes to hell
The Tyranid hive fleet reaches teh Gelmiro system (other side of the sub sector^_^), and the concentration of Psykers causes a manifestation of the Tyrant Star.
Now here, is where I'm stumped. I want the players to find a way of averting the Hive Fleet, and deal with the Tyrant star, but for this, I need some ideas for what the Tyrant star is ^^
Any help guys and gals?
(Wow, long post
)
